They can be voted on for change* Server info: Server: Eclipse 3[PVP] Faction: ADK, A Different Kind Play Style: Militant Traders (PVP) VoIP: Discord Website: www.adkgamers.com Description and Core Values: A Different Kind, Space Engineers is casual faction. However, that does not mean that we are not organized and effective. Casual means that we do not require members to be at every team event. Come to the events that you can make it to. Activity in the faction is required, so is teamwork. But, real life and family first. Now, I consider the faction as a Militant trading company. More of a protection force then a force activity going out seeking trouble. Since that is my vision, I have set most of our Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement to reflect that. We will defend ourselves and protect our allies without question. For that reason our faction Motto is “ADK territories will be paid for in enemy blood!”. Core Values - Teamwork makes the dream work. A faction that plays together will stay together. So, needless to say, this is an integral part the faction. Selflessness, keeping the thought of the factions benefits over a personnel one. Commitment, staying with the project or mission until the bitter end. Members Code of Conduct: No destructive trolling other Team Members EXAMPLE: Running Ships into Team Ships Flying allied ships into certain doom Destroying other allied factions ships resulting in WAR Do not commit acts of war with allied factions unless confirmed. We do not attack opposing faction base locations on first contact, first line of offense is gathering intel. When dealing with Neutral faction follow the Rules of Engagement. There is to no using of any exploits in the game meaning no game breaking scripts. “Share with Faction” must be done on your equipment. This is why we have a interview process when joining the faction. However, try to request permission before using someone else's equipment. Back up all build designs in your blueprint book! EXTENDED AMOUNT OF NON-ACTIVITY FROM MEMBER WILL BE VIEWED AS LEAVING THE FACTION AND SERVER! Even though the Faction is a Causal group, there is still a mission and vision for the group and everyone's participation in the fun is needed! Every member must log into the server at least 1 once a week. The following is a list of actions in a time line that will be taken to keep the faction with an active group of players. 2 weeks of non-activity and the faction will assume control of all equipment (This is due to server restarts can sometimes make grids Static, non-movable). 3 weeks, and the members equipment will be recycled back to the factions inventory (Clutter on the server slows done playing speed). 4 weeks on non-activity will result with member being removed from faction (Factions have a limit in the server due to server size, if you are not playing I will make room for more that want to). To Avoid non-activity policy from taking effect on you, please notify leadership that you will absent from the server via ADK forums for a any reason, some examples are due to, “need a Break”, “Family in town”, “Vacation with Family”, “tough week at work”, “being deployed”, so on and so forth. The communication piece is your responsibility, not the factions. The rules listed both above and below they are given as a contract. Once you have your recruitment interview, you can’t not bend the rules. Discord Server Rules: See official ADK Community rules. Rules of Engagement: If the neutral or enemy target begins to open fire, even if said to be accidently, you are allowed to open fire on the neutral or enemy target. Follow the rules below. Anyone lower than a Captain can not plan a meetup with an neutral faction that is allied in the faction category in the server. Any faction member is allowed to attack an enemy ship as long as it can’t affect any other faction members without their consent. Remember Recon is are first line of defence and offense.   2. Space Engineers, A game Capable of ANYTHING! Space Engineers is an Open Sandbox game revolving around space. The game is still in Alpha despite coming out in 2014 as a steam “early access” game. In this game, you have to minecraft, and build to survive. The game is developed by KEEN SWH LTD and has already accomplished so much in the first 2 years of early access. Last year it won the Players Choice Indie Game of the year 2015 for its unique concept on sandbox games. In the next few Paragraphs, I will cover more about the game and my honest review of it. Forging a new path for Sandbox Games! Space Engineers is not just like any other Sandbox game out there! It is designed with a realistic physics and realistic volumetric engine with true damage models. What does that mean, well, if you build a structure on four pillars, and take the pillars out, the build will fall, break apart, and if you are in the way, it will kill you in the process? With the volumetric aspect of the game, weight plays an enormous factor in the game. Too much weight on one side of a ship will affect the movement, take off, and landing of the craft. Late 2015/ early 2016, the developers added planets to the game in response to an overwhelming request from the many players for the game. With that be added, the physics engine, was applied to the planet and the new wheeled options added as well. Planets have gravity and some have an atmosphere of oxygen. There are 3 types of planets, the Earth like planet, Mars type planet, and the Alien planet. Each planet is different experience in its own way and I will cover more about those later. The great thing about this is your can change the make a footprint on the planet that will stay over time! Just like Minecraft, you can manipulate the environment around permanently for all to see and share! Single Player Survival and Creative Worlds When starting the game out for the first time, it is highly recommended to play the Single Player Survival. There are multiple different scenarios to choose from. Some examples are Easy Start Earth, Easy Start Mars, Easy Start Alien, Crashed ship on planet earth, Planetary Lander, Easy Start Space, and a few more to boot. Now, you still have the Creative and Survival option on those scenarios listed. On top of that, there are advanced options where you can adjust the size on maps, how many planets, which type of planets, how many asteroids, sizes of asteroids, pirates on or off, and aliens and cyber hounds (the two type of mobs on planets, I will cover more of that later). Recently, the development team has again been listening to the players. They added a 2 new advance options. One allows for an infinite world, that is if your computer can handle the beautiful graphics and rendering this game has. The second it an integration of the steam workshop where they add random ships and stations created by other players stranded in outer space! Creative play is Amazing! Creative play in this game is incredible! The options the game provides you with makes is just outstanding. Like every other Sandbox game, Creative allows you to do anything in the world you want without any of the normal limitations set in survival. However, so of the extra stuff, the more Space Engineers specific items is Copy and Paste! Yes, that’s right, you can place the cursor of the ship you made press CLT-C and then paste into the world the same way you would on any computer document anywhere in the world. Not only that, there is a symmetrical mode in the game that will allow you to duplicate half the ship. So, you build one side of the ship, let’s say the left side. With Symmetrical mode on, you can duplicate that to the other side allowing you to make perfectly shape mechanics! To boot, the game also has a Blue print function. This allows you to point the cursor at the ship or station, and save the blueprint to be used by you later or saved on the Steam Workshop for others to use. Single Player Survival! In single player survival, there are many different options you can chose from when it comes to scenarios. The key factor to this though is like every other Sandbox game out there. FIND A SPOT WITH LOTS OF RESOURCES! Now, that does not mean there are no enemies to contend with in the game! Oh no! There are pirates both in space and on some of the planets and moons! They will find you and try to kill you if you are close to them! To add to the dangers of the universe, alien planets have large spiders that are super aggressive! And planet earth also has Cyber Hounds that are just as aggressive. These are be turned off or left on when selecting the Scenarios. Multiple player Mode! Ok, so, let me start with the truth. Multiplayer mode is still new and the dev’s are still learning when it comes to this. However, Space Engineers has a great concept to it when it comes to Multiplayer! Space Engineers use what they call factions, which can be created by any player. Factions are basically a Clan or Guild. With Factions, you can send peace treaties or even place them in a war status. This will affects how your faction see and interacts with other players from other factions. If you go to peace with a Faction, they become neutral and show us as white on radar, beacons, or when you come into view. If you are at war, they show up as red! Red means that your automatic defensive systems will open fire when in range. When they are in your faction, they will show up as white. Now, to add to this, because multiplayer Sandbox are the shit, this allows you to do a lot with factions. For example, if a member in your faction builds a Medical Bay (By the way, this is what you use to heal and re-spawn into), you can use it can spawn into there base or ship. It is a great function to get team members together. There is a downside to that. With the exception of you killing yourself or exiting the server, you can not re-spawn to another terminal. Last I heard, this was being addressed and looked at, and I am interested to see what the solution to this problem will be. The most interesting thing with Multiplayer in Space Engineers is the ability to do whatever you want! If you want to join a faction, you can. If you do not, they you do not have to. Most servers are open to whatever the community can come up with. There are some limitations when it comes to builds, welder walls, about of grinders, and what has to be on a base or a ship to prevent it from disappearing on a server cleanup program. However, when it comes to options of style of game play, it is limitless. Right now, for example, there is a small group on the Andromeda PvP server that act as Earth Terrorist! But, there is another group that keep the Moon Space port open to free trade by acting and calling themselves the Moon Police Department! A few lone wolfs operate as contractors and will design and build bases or ships for a fee! Well others operate as pirates in space. When it comes to servers, they operate just like ARK, Minecraft, H1Z1, or Battlefield. The servers are operated by a group or a community. They have free reign on what modifications they want to run on it, how the scenarios will play out, or even what type of spawns will be allowed. So, there will allows be something different on every server you spawn into. Nothing will ever be the same. My take on the game! Ok, so here it comes, my honest take on the game. So, I will be a little biased, but it is understandable. One, I love the flexibility that sandbox games allow people to come up with. Two, I have been playing this game since 2014 when they released it for early access. However, it is one of those game were the learning curve is severe. That is the honest truth! It requires you to do some learning and playing with before you get any good at it. Also, it is based off the players or communities imagination. It is not a game with a story line or clear defined objectives. it is based off the communities and the players to detail the play style. The Pro’s Sandbox game, always a plus for me! Creative mode is one of the best I have ever played or seen! Realistic physics and realistic volumetric engine with true damage models! A Huge Community that is active with new modifications, blue prints, scripts, and skins! Player run servers that allow for a different multiplayer scenario on every server. Faction system is outstanding! Planets! Need I say more! The Con’s Multiplayer is still suffering glitches. They get fixed quick, but still a small annoyance. Serve learning curve to this game! Not a game that your jump right into. It takes time, being frustrated A LOT, to learn to be good at this game. Player limits on servers are low. Most Servers being between 30-40 players at a time.   3.   https://youtu.be/r9StvrjFt1g https://youtu.be/0n5ys4uAhcs          Albion Online is a new MMORPG currently in a closed beta.  It has unique concepts and a very different look both game mechanics and visually.  It was developed and being published by Sandbox Interactive (there first release of any game). A game that is completely Relatable play styles of Ultima Online, Runescape, and fighting a little bit more similar to Diablo. Through the next few paragraphs I'm going to explain the game and tell you my personal likes and dislikes.   Cross Platform and System Requirements         One of the more interesting aspects to the game is it’s cross platform ability.  From the graphic to the system specifications.  Everything was designed for the game to be played on both a portable tablet or your home PC.  It still however does not take too much away from the visual appearance of the game.  With that said, it is important to know that the model is of a 2D overhead playing style.  Very much similar to Ultima Online, but with more polished graphics similar to Runescape.  For having 2D style gameplay, the graphics are still crisp and very stylish.  This keeps the System spec’s low enough to play on the Tablet.  The only real concern is System Memory and that is 2G’s.I personally tried out the game on the tablet, and I found that someone like me that has limited time, was able to sit with the wife and watch a movie while just checking the screen every few minutes to gather resources and craft.  The Convenience and Portability of the game means that you are always able to get in when you want or need to to help the guild in it’s endeavors.    Controls and Interface         When it comes to controls, the game is more at it’s MMORPG roots.  It is a point and click style game.  WASD are not your moving controls, but those keys are going to be used later for combat skills.  The game operates smooth, no real glitches, or stuck graphics.  For the game being in Beta, it is incredible that it is so optimized now.   The the interface, it is a bit clumsy, but after playing around with how to find your bag, exit the game, check you stats, you get use to it.  Also, the menu’s and interface screens are a little large.  You can see how they have developed this to be on a Tablet.  It is small inconvenience, nothing worth stop playing game for.   Customization          The Customization in the game is varied.  The reason I say this is due to the fact that the 1. The game is still in Closed Beta with only 1 Race available (There should be 6 playable races on release). 2. The choices on how their appearance is also limited.  To be honest with you, this will matter very little.  Most of your customization will be done through gear.  You will not be able to scroll in far enough to see how many hairs you have you face to count as a beard, so it doesn’t really matter.  But, you can change your hair, underwear, face, and skin color with up to 6 different types. Again, the gear is the most important part of your appearance.     Factions          Albion Online has 6 Factions to the game.  Each Faction provides Mission, Experience, and money through your reputation with them.  The factions are Royal Expeditionary Forces, Disciples of Morgana, The Heretics, Keepers of Albion, The Undead, and the Demons of Hell.  Each faction provides unique and different gear and weapons when you complete missions for them.  Here is the twist, the payment you receive in this game is silver, and it is what you need to purchase almost EVERYTHING!  Each faction, as players go to them for quest, will pay less silver.  Requiring players that are just playing the missions for money to find other factions.  However, this will lower their standings with a rival if they do so.  This feature is installed to control the economy can maintain the balance so that the Players still control the economy through their villages and player housing.  Besides that, each faction has it’s own side story and missions.  The Faction that you will most encounter in the game is Royal Expeditionary Forces.   https://youtu.be/DvnWkry_Q5U   Economy          As eluded to in the last paragraph, the in game Economy is controlled by the players.  How is this achieved?  Well several ways.  Crafting, like in Runescape, is a cornerstone to the game.  Crafting will be done for almost everything!  Your gear, your weapons, your housing, your village.  So of course, gathering resources are quintessential to crafting.  Now, player housing offers a lot of variation to it.  You can make Farms for livestock and crops.  Not only that, you can have labors do the work for you. Then you can take your “Home Grown Goods” and sell them at the auction house, or, you guild town.  Yes, your guild can build a town and you can own a property in town to sell your goods, have a smithy, or even a carpenter's station and charge a tax.  This game believes in the people running the systems, and not the other way around.   https://youtu.be/_qb8Q8JY2dc   Auction House and Bank         With the Auction house, it feels and looks just like every other game.  Nothing really new to that.  There are auction houses in every NPC held towns (Green).  I cannot personally speak on the Guild Villages though.  I have not gotten that far in the game to have anything to share on both positive or negative.  Now, the banks, are giant chest.  There is a lot of room for resources, gear, weapons, and mounts.  Here is the unique aspect to this game, each bank in each town is different.  What I mean by that is that they are not linked.  What that means you will have to move resources if you need to another town or you can stockpile in current towns.  Either way, I don’t see it as a positive or a negative.  I see it more as different and like the fact I can storeway tools, resources, gear, and weapons.  Then, I can move stuff if I need to.   Combat          Combat in Albion Online is different.  This is where the Ultima and Runescape similarities disperse and the Diablo like combat kicks in.  First off, it is not a action based MMO, I know that right there will turn off a few people, however, combat in this game is intense.  Here are the reasons.  One, this game is a classless game.  What that means is you have not chosen class.      This is dependent on your gear.  You can wear whatever the hell you want.  You want to be a Heavy Armor Battlemage, DO IT!  You want to be a lightweight warrior with Sword and Shield but cloth cloths, DO IT!  Gear and weapons are what your passive and active abilities and traits are linked to.  So, you can have a Paladin Class with a staff and heavy armor.  Just Craft it that way.  Now, here are some important things to remember.  You can lose your gear!  If you die, it will drop, and other players can pick it up and use it!  So, dieing in this game, MATTERS!  Almost all your equipment can and will mostly be crafted.  Dungeons will have a small chance to drop equipment and grinding reputation with the factions will get your really cool and unique equipment.   https://youtu.be/gcigfyCcPSM   Dungeon’s         The Dungeon’s in this game are many and plentiful.  Not only are they are great source for Drops, but they also provide rare gems, ruby’s. and Soul Stones.  Some Dungeons require a certain equipment Tier level to access.  The thing with dungeon’s are they are not instanced.  That means in Yellow, Red, and Black areas, it might become a fight over the right to kill the boss by another group.  There is also Hellgates in the gate.  To access a Hellgate, you have to kill a Gate keeper.  However, somewhere else in the world is another Gate Keeper that will open another portal to the same Hellgate. I can not speak to much to the nature of the Dungeon’s, I have not reached that far in the last 2 days.  However, I have seen, read, and watched enough to get the general idea.   https://youtu.be/_d-Hk27FCyM   Progression and Unlocking Skills          Progression in this game is done via a system call the “Destiny Board”.  Now, this thing upon first glance is scary looking as hell.  However, if you look at is close it is very simple.  Following the flow of the board up the center and it acts just like a tutorial.  Starting the game, there is not real tutorial.  But, the game is intuitive, so it is not really needed and you can always go back to the Destiny Board.  Now, this is wear it get’s interesting.  Certain abilities start to spider web off the center.  Farming and it’s sub-abilities.  Then combat, which then subs into torches, swords, bows, etc.     The Map         As for the map, it is huge.  Albion is a vast expanse, with a lot of area to cover and go for resources to crafting. Certain areas, just like every other MMO, have higher level mobs and resources.  Another different take on maps is the zones.  Zones are broken into Green, Yellow, Red, and Black.  With Yellow, it is a open PvP zone that even if you are not flagged for PvP you can still be attacked.  However, you will have a buff to will make you stronger and harder to kill for the enemy.  Red, zones the same thing, but I believe the buff is less.  Then the Black zones are no hold bars.  Beware, you will lose your stuff.  Again, this is something I have not done much of, just into the yellow area myself.     PvP and the Map Area’s         Guild’s in this game have a role to play in this game more than just a name.  Guilds can have a island, they can own towns, and they can also have an entire castle.  Now, the island is a sanctuary.  This meaning that it can not be attack.  For the village and the castle.  Those can be attack and captured.  Enemy’s can opt to burn down you stuff and build anew if they so choose.     In the Green zone, you have NPC villages, towns, and cities.  In the cities you can own plots of land.  On these plots you can build carpenters shack, a smithy, or even a tannery for leather.  You will have a labor that will require food to work, but other users can use your plot and you will get tax surplus in your bank.          To expound upon the guild owned villages, these will be in the Yellow and above zones.  Your villages WILL BE ATTACKED BY OTHER GUILDS!  You can lose builds, or even the entire town.  This makes for really interesting game play.   https://youtu.be/68sXorqlK6s https://youtu.be/2Pv3fGZF3mc https://youtu.be/BYr7JRaAiuU https://youtu.be/quYDR73eV7k         My Final Thoughts         My overall opinion on this game is a positive.  Of course there is some issue that I have with certain aspects of the game.  However, the pro’s outweigh the con’s 100% personally for me.  For most of the First looks, it is getting great reviews.  It is important to remember that these are First Looks.  The game is still in Closed Beta.   gamewalkers.com - 8.0 out of 10 MMO Attack.com - 8.0 out of 10 MMORPG.com - 8.17 out of 10   My Pro’s and Con’s   Pro’s Intense Combat.  Never stale and very rewarding and punishing respectfully.     So, just got this game on a 75% off Steam bargain of the day and would love to know if anyone else here plays. I've heard great things about it, so i got the complete edition (only $12USD) so I can get all it has to offer.   I have done many city-building and civ-esque games and have high hopes for this one. I'll post thoughts and such in a few days, but the multi-player sounds very interesting.
