  1. what's a good gaming computer

What kind of games do you play? Will the PC be used for any other purpose besides general purpose (web browsing, email, etc..)? Are you be building the PC yourself from separately purchased parts?
  2. bf4 or hardline?

I'll pick it up once it goes on sale a few months after release, not paying full price.
  3. My Recent Leather Work, hope you enjoy

Awesome work! The amount of effort with the intricate details definitely shines through.
  4. FCC Net Neutrality

@[member='viperman']   From the very same article you linked:   "Estimates of the impact on consumers -- in terms of Internet service bill fees and taxes -- range from $0 to $11 billion.   I would be remiss not to mention the conclusion at the end of the article was the estimate is a half truth since the impact is far from certain.   I'm not disputing this will possibly increase the cost of our broadband service. My point was nothing is as set in stone as your original post would indicate. Also, this doesn't change the ISP's ability to impose data caps (like many already do) or otherwise. I'll gladly pay an extra $5 bucks a month  in taxes/fees if it means I won't be forced into a tiered plan by the ISP's that dictates how I should make use of the service, while at the same time possibly costing even more.
  5. FCC Net Neutrality

@[member='viperman']   Nobody knows for certain what, if any, additional costs this will mean. Current federal law prohibits states from tacking on the same types of taxes to internet service. That said, I'm sure the states will make a case our broadband should be levied with the same fees as traditional telecom service.    Just my 2 cents - preventing the ISP's from adding on additional fees of their own while moving into a tiered internet plan determined by content usage seems like a good thing to me. If this really does piss off Verizon/AT&T/Comcast half at much as I've been reading then it must be a good thing for consumers.
  6. Good Bye #6

Sorry to see it go. I hardly knew ye.
  7. FCC Net Neutrality

Three main rules from the commission's order:   Broadband providers may not block access to legal content, applications, services, or non-harmful devices. They may not impair or degrade lawful internet traffic on the basis of content, application, services, or any classes thereof. They may not favor some internet traffic over other internet traffic in exchange for consideration of any kind — no paid prioritization or fast lanes. I bet the ISP's are pissed.

I think tattoo's are great, but people should consider having them in a place that's concealable if there is any intention of working in a professional (white collar) setting. I've seen people turned down for good jobs because of a tattoo on a wrist, neck, etc.
  9. SSD (Solid State Drive) Tweak Guide

@[member='plaxus']   Great article. I added to bookmarks for reference next time I rebuild my kid's Win7 box.   You might consider changing the title of the thread to Win7 SSD tweak guide since it's mostly applicable to that OS.
  10. XBMC, Kodi, etc

@[member='plaxus']   Google definitely fills in the gaps. :)   Here is a guide I bookmarked that never gave me any issues with installing Plex on my Ubuntu server.
  11. Why am I using all my Processing power?

Just spit-balling, but have you tried capping your frame rate to see if that helps the spikes and subsequent freezing? Might be worth trying to make things a bit more tolerable while you look for a longer term solution.   Press ~ while in-game   Type in gametime.maxvariablefps 30 (30 is example FPS value)
  12. XBMC, Kodi, etc

Running Plex with a couple hundred movies on a Ubuntu 14.04 box that doubles as my file/backup server. Setup took all of about ten minutes.   Clients include Plasma's/LCD's with Roku devices and tables and phones running plex app. Remote access via Plex cloud has never been problematic except for a few network connection drops unrelated to the service.   Things I really like about it include auto polling metadata and related content (posters, trailers, behind the scenes, etc...) for titles, upcoming movie trailers for new theater releases, and a ton of menu options for movie playlists. New content added via a samba network share to the server drive is auto detected and added to unwatched at the top of my menu.   I can't really think of anything bad to say about the product/service.
  13. Is it worth buying again?

@[member='LegallyBlindCake']   You need to reinstall and get your ass back in the game! :)   @[member='Blacksquid66']   Totally worth it on the PC. I've stuck with BF4 longer than any other game. Origin offers up some good deals with premium on occasion.
  14. Joystick recommendations for heli/jet?

@[member='ColColonCleaner']   Great response! Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
  15. I'm curious what joysticks others in the community prefer for flight combat and why? I bought a Logitech extreme 3d the other day, and so far think it's fairly responsive after getting through the manual edits to keybinding. What would be great is to hear from some of the aerial veterans on recommendations/suggestions for other models to try out while I'm still within my return period.   Thanks all!
