I've established that the frail balance of "functional" that I have achieved on my Frankentop is thrown into chaos by the Discord app. It is not adversely affected by the in browser communications however which greatly confuses me. I figured Chrome's RAM gobbling would be more detrimental to my gaming attempts than a chat program would be.
