  1. To upgrade or not

I went with this: http://us.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-zx I got it about a year ago on sale at Microcenter for $89.00. The headphone thing is pretty amazing $90.99 on Amazon right now https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Blaster-Performance-Headphone-Desktop/dp/B009XDWUCQ
  2. To upgrade or not

As was mentioned depends. Depends on software and game etc... Some programs (generic term) may bottleneck on memory, CPU and/or GPU. The other side is each component needs to work well with each other to strike a good balance. Meaning (extremes) a old Pentium 4 with a 1080..... Well the 1080 isn't even going to sweat (i know it would never work anyways). So if you can't afford all top of the line parts, you have to strike a good balance where you minimize bottlenecks so each component can run at 100%. Once again it all depends on what you run, but honestly your setup is fine, if anything MAYBE a sound card to reduce that work off the CPU and increase your sound quality. It took YEARS since XP/Vista change for sound cards to catch up (use to be almost required for decent sound). And they are around $100 pull price and on sale closer to $50 ish. If utilized right it can give you a slight edge as you can hear more subtle noises like footsteps from further way, less chance a player sneaking up on you.
  3. Latest creation

Finally released my second major site: http://www.gamesmart.com/ Still in Beta but almost done!
  4. BF1 will be big

LOL, couple of the youtube guys mentioned more then Snoop was passing them things around and it "Stank"... lol that was epic.
  5. BF1 Gameplay First Impressions?

Hit detection was a bit off from what I saw on some weapons. Find out for sure in beta (see below). Server browser has been confirmed. Not renting servers specifically (community run), and I will assume nothing yet. Weapons definitely LOOKED liked they had a lot of recoil for the smgs and snipper bolt looked like a nice balance with single bullet reload to help balance it out some. Grenades look to be a big part, via anti vehicle and personal types. The use of a vehicle class could be awesome I think.
  6. My computer *WIP*

W7? like it or not, get better performance and security in all aspects with W 10.
  7. Since the release of a few games on PC that utilize Match Making and publisher/develop company run servers like: COD, Titanfall, Battlefront, Rainbow Siege, The Division and Doom all have one major issue in common on PC. The community wants community run servers or at least private servers but prefer community run servers. Why? Articles (to many to list) are being published detailing high levels of cheating at the top of the list that players can not control. Where as like ADK's servers, our admins can handle the situation separate from the built in cheat detection (which is always, and always will be re-active not pro-active) and in some cases the game has a relaxed policy when they do detect cheaters. I believe a while ago those caught in The Division where suspended for three days with no stat and loot reset. I argue the fact I spend so much money on a gaming computer versus a console is for the value I set in community run servers. I deal with the un-optimized games and bugs derived from so many PC system combinations that devs have to account for and piss poor ports etc for this fact. I want to choose what map, player count and mode I want to play. Not to mention the possible setting variations on different servers. I understand the companies listen to the players who complain (complaining is louder then enjoyment) that want a consistent playing experience, but isn't that what official servers are for? (You know, the empty ones) isn't that why you "favorite" the servers you like? Granted from experience players sit and play in a server for hours complaining every few seconds how bad the server and server settings are..... Now look at the fact most of the above games listed generally didn't last very long (on PC anyways) compared, maybe that is their plan. But TF2, cod 4, BF2, BC2, and BF4 are still going strong enough that you can load it up and play and I argue it is because of communities and community run servers with minimal to no cost to the game company. Note: I know The Division is a MMO style and thus can't have community run servers, but just pointing out the issues noted.
  8. Will You Be Buying Battlefield 1?

Considering it's the same, but upgraded engine, your CPU has a lot more to do with it then a top of the line GPU. My older quad I7 bottlenecked BF4, once I upgraded to the hex core CPU I got over 70FPS on Ultra (avg ) on large 64P maps and over 100 on other smaller servers with a 980 FTW

  10. Is Chrome Set To Dethrone Firefox?

  11. Will You Be Buying Battlefield 1?

Almost all games have that model now. Pay to win yet to be determined but in game transactions doesn't "scare" me.. Almost every app for your phone has some type of transactions..... BF4 has them for battlebacks and short cuts
  12. Will You Be Buying Battlefield 1?

    Good points
  13. Will You Be Buying Battlefield 1?

90% chance I will, but will decide in the beta. Why? IMO Dice is partially to blame with battlefront and Hardline (After first Beta and Dice devs "helped") fail, and if no community run dedicated servers I will NOT buy it. Main reason I spend money on a gaming PC versus a PS4 is because I want to choose the mode(s) and map(s) i want to play and not deal with a MM (Match Maker) and forced to play maps I don't want to play on. Only reason I DID NOT buy Battlefront was for the above reason and see other games fail on the PC (COD, Titanfall, Battlefront).
  14. Nvidia Pascal Cards

Dedicated Physx cards lower your frame rate. More so if it's not the same card (think sli). I tested it out personally and reduced my frames by 10% average. Google the tests, I don't know why people (not directed to you @Element) still think two cards is somehow better, it will never ever be for the far future,. Too much communication bottlenecks (lag) via the pci slots and the sli bridge for the gpu's to effectivly share the load, in your case compile the math for the physx then send it to the main GPU while the main waits for it (holding frames back)
  15. Windows Update

LOL, to each his own. I don't have issues but I configured it to update a certain times and only from MS. No third party drivers etc... Never an issue (knock on wood)
  16. Battlefield 1 PC Version NO DISC INCLUDED

Here is the deal with disks: most new pcs don't have disk drives any more, it's usually an upgrade. The size of the games now, you'll have to have 2 blue-Ray disks. Meaning you're going to need a blue ray drive (who has those now anyways? even movies you buy have online version and sales suck) you'll have to install origin anyways for updates. consoles can't fit all the data on a disk either and will require installation, or part install. a disk is a waste of resources and isn't "green" . Stating they are screwing over the pc community is a huge reach, it's more like YOU feel screwed over you don't have a coaster that you will throw away in a few years anyways. You have to be online to play via origin anyways.
  17. BF5 TBA on May 6th. Who is exicted

    You know they will. Lol
  18. BF5: Eastern Front

Rumor is ww2, but on the doc I could see it go modern or future. Though perception of 4 maps is way to light.
  19. Currently on Deployment.....Will update this with News!

So @[member='Chief_Rockie'] contacted me a few days ago to post an update for him.   He is now in the 5th Fleet area of operations and has restricted internet access for security reasons. So he can not get to here to post.     Looks like they are getting in striking distance of ISIS!   http://www.navytimes.com/story/military/2016/04/08/these-4500-marines-and-sailors-soon-striking-distance-isis/82745598/

  21. Russian Cruisers Released

Finally the Russian cruiser line has been released and I have unlocked up to tier 6 as of the time of this post. Over all review:   We thought the German cruisers had "glass hulls" by way of low armor rating but nothing like the Russian line. It definitely takes skill and planning to be effective with these cruisers.  I have been dominated more then once with a single salvo with HE from other cruisers and bb's with these ships. Against the USA line of DD's these ships can get dominated too by the rapid firing guns, the Russian dd's can definitely dominate if they fire AP shells scoring massive damage quickly.  Positioning and angels are a necessity that requires every move of the rudder planned out way ahead of time. For now I refrain from being in the lead attack and have to slow down and escort bb's closely, hoping they do advance and not sit back at map edges.    Due to the ships being bigger, mainly longer, then other cruisers of the same tier the maneuverability is not as good. Even with the rudder shift perk the turning radius is closer to a bb's then most cruisers. This adds to the first paragraph as far as planning each move carefully.    The guns are definitely the high point even with lower or equal caliber with other ships in the same tier range they are amazing. Better then the German line, I have been averaging one citadel hit per volley on any cruiser and dd dumb enough to broad side to me, even some that aren't. This includes me going bow or fantail to the enemy ship so one gun is firing. The range is tremendous and still accurate at max range, though not as accurate and medium range is very flat trajectory compared. The ones I have unlocked that have planes are spotter planes allowing for even greater distance . Definitely the high light of these ships.   The AA is also quite good, and better then or equal to the USA line. As I run with the bb's I get quite a few kills and at least mess up the targeting of the planes. Not sure if you can load the AA perk instead of the sonar perk (not a fan of the sonar anyways), if you can definitely worth it.   They are fast ships too but that doesn't really help much as like I said you can not go it alone in these ships. So for me not an advantage or disadvantage as of yet.   Overall: The ships are IMO not op, but take more skill then most which is fine with me. The ships are balanced well enough to other lines just different from the other lines that it takes time to get your feeling for what you need to do to be decent with them. For sure one mistake or moment of not watching your mini-map you can be sunk with out notice, worse then the German line. But the guns and AA make up for it if you do pay attention and with a lot of practice.
  22. Russian Cruisers Released

I got up to tier 7 and the armor is so bad... You basically can handle less then a dozen hits and that's it. The German line and Atlanta are better. I basicly give up. It's to frustrating getting dominated by a DD....
  23. Linux on Windows.

@[member='Moonkai2k']   Probably works as good as the MySql plugin?!?!?!?!
  24. Linux on Windows.

@[member='Moonkai2k'] @[member='F34RL3SS']   Power shell runs scripts (.dll files) from the command line. It is not really a command line but a gui like DOS so to speak. You can create your own with Visual Studio, it just never really caught on.   .NET is specific to Windows mainly because the language is C# or Visual Basic (another fail). When you compile it with Visual Studio to run your code, both forms and MVC, it creates .dll files that can only be run/executed on a windows OS/server. It wasn't and never will be (probably) hosted on anything other than a Windows environment.   Another fun fact Pivot is copyrighted by MS for Excel pivots. Some how connection table transformed to pivot table for rational databases.
