  2. Any Old Timers still around

I'm not as old as the Battlefield days, but I've been here since the launch of Overwatch (2016). Come play OW with us and drink drinks
  3. Overwatch Fun at ADK for May 2020

About the Clips Another fun and crazy and scary month of Overwatch! With everything that is going on in the world, a lot of us stay in and play Overwatch. We've been having some good numbers with last week having almost enough for two teams, good stuff. I stayed on tank, for the most part, this month with playing a little support. I got the first two spots in the clips with some tanking, and a new game mode we found where you have a Rein charge as Thomas the Tank. It wasn't action-packed but super funny. Billy and Nick get the next two spots while playing their best characters. @nickphan can play nearly any tank and support and Billy can constantly get clutch with Reaper. Then they end up dueling each other in a 1v1 with Nick winning. Purple weed gets in next and shows us why he's one of our best DPS players. Funky is next while we are playing a Mercy only game mode with melee only called Mercy Boxing Plus. - Titan In the World of Overwatch Overwatch League just finished its May Melee tournament with some great results. For the North America Division, San Francisco successfully established their dominance with the first seed and finally became the champion of the tournament after beating Florida Mayhem 4 to 2. However, the success of Florida Mayhem should not be ignored because they were considered an average or below average franchise so far. The Mayhem took the second seed and later made it to the final. For the Asia Division, the Shanghai Dragons arguably made the greatest come back ever in the Overwatch League history after the 4-3 victory against the Seoul Dynasty, after being down 0-3. At the other half of the game, they decided to run dive composition as much as possible, even in maps like King’s Row and Junkertown, where the double shield or the brawl composition has a greater advantage. Seoul Dynasty also deserved some compliments since they started with the last seed coming into the playoffs, and they made it to the final and almost beat the Dragons, which is considered the strongest team in this region. The Dynasty really shows that they are still a championship contender even with the poor record in the regular season. Finally, the Overwatch League decided to let players take a break and they will be back on June 13th. "Shanghai Dragons arguably made the greatest come back ever in the Overwatch League history after the 4-3 victory against the Seoul Dynasty, after being down 0-3" Overwatch this month had some hero changes as an effort to balance many heroes. Mercy received a flat healing buff to her primary healing, Zenyatta’s Discord Orb amplifies damage by 5 more percent, meanwhile, Moira’s biotic orb and Ana primary healing were nerfed. Bastion and Junkrat both receive some nice buffs because of their lower pick rates. The Overwatch Anniversary events is back with new skins and brings back content and items from past events. All events skins are available so do not miss the chance to buy the ones that you would love to have. - Nick Phan

  5. Overwatch Fun at ADK for April 2020

We have a blast every Friday night, guaranteed
  6. About the Clips Another fun month of Overwatch! I switched back to tank for the most part after a couple of months trying to learn support. I could always get silver healing but gold was rare. @CardinalFunky had plenty of Dead eyes with Mccree, Driftless showed us how to play some solid Brig and he tanked with Orisa as well. My favorite clip is at the end when Funky gets rezzed and then gets a triple kill. Fun stuff! In the World of Overwatch There have been a lot of changes going on with the Overwatch League as the Covid-19 Pandemic is going strong in the U.S. The line between the Atlantic and Pacific Conference has been blurred because since they moved from the physical “homestand” LAN format to the online matches, which results in the fact that teams must play in either Asia region or North America region due to ping issues. Multiple Western teams with a strong core of Korean players, including New York Excelsior, London Spitfire, and Vancouver Titans have moved to South Korea because the teams felt safer there; however, Vancouver Titans announced a return to North America due to some logistics and management issues. Thus, currently, the 7 teams: Charge, Dragons, Dynasty, Excelsior, Hunters, Spark, and Spitfire, while the remaining 13 teams belong to the North America region. They will have a tournament among the two regions in May. There were a lot of changes to hero pools in April. They changed from having separate hero pools between the game and the competition to the same hero pools for all players using the hero usages of the Masters/Grandmasters, and on the latest, they plan to keep hero pools only for Masters/Grandmasters and League/ Contenders players based on the League hero usages. Blizzard has been listening to the feedbacks of the community and tries their best to make sure the majority of players feel happy. Map pools were also removed from the game, all maps are available to play except Paris and Horizon Lunar Colony. On the performances of the teams, it is really hard to tell exactly where every team is because of the two regions; however, there are some clear best and worst teams in the League as of right now. On the winning side, the Philadelphia Fusion in North America and Shanghai Dragons in Asia are consistently dominating their competition. Meanwhile, the Boston Uprising is clearly at the bottom of the standings. They now only have 6 active players due to Walid “Mouffin” Bassal was kicked out following allegations of sexual misconduct, Min-seob “Axxiom” Park took leave of absence for a medical procedure, and Gabriel “Swimmer” Levy and Sangbeom “Munchkin” Byun left the team recently. The minimum requirement of 8 players in the Overwatch League has been waived for the Uprising due to the current situation with the Covid-19 pandemic. On the breaking news, Jay “Sinatraa” Won, the star flex DPS player of San Francisco Shock, recently left Overwatch League in order to pursue a career in Valorant. He stated that the long DPS queue time in 2-2-2 role lock was the biggest obstacle for him to continue playing Overwatch. Sinatraa won the 2019 T-Mobile OWL Award and Overwatch League season 2 with the Shock, and also won the Overwatch World Cup 2019 and the MVP for the event with the U.S.A team. His departure is a surprise to a lot of people since he is a current “star” player for a championship team and earns one of the highest salaries in the League; meanwhile, Valorant only began the open beta recently and has not announced any competitive scene yet. Since Valorant came out, many notable Overwatch players have moved to the new game, including Dafran, Taimou, TviQ, HyP, Gods, Kyb, and Wanted. View full article

  12. IGNs: itsFood Game: Overwatch ADK Role: Guest Overwatch roles: Likes to play every role Food has been a guest at ADK for some time. He is one of the best in ADK at executing high-level gameplay. He is a big fan of the Overwatch League and brings those strats to our Friday night game nights. You can see him teleport the entire team on the point, be a DPS Moira and destroy as Reaper. He makes it every Friday night and we really value the vibes he brings. I took a moment to ask Food some questions about himself, here are his responses: What brought you to ADK? I joined a "Find a Group" one night, which so happened Funky's ADK Friday Night group. It was a chill and fun night, we ended up playing for hours. The rest is history, I've been playing with ADK every Friday since. What part of the community brings you the most joy? I like that, for the most part, people don't take themselves too seriously. We all like winning, but there's room for fun too. What game could you play for the rest of your life? I don't think there's a game out there (yet) that I would want to play for the rest of my life. It would have to be a true sandbox if there were. When you're not playing games, what do you do? When I'm not gaming, I work as a creative in an advertising agency, but I'm usually gaming. Why should people join us Friday nights to play Overwatch? Sometimes we lose, sometimes we win, but we always have fun! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Join us Friday nights at 6 PM PST/8 PM CST/9 PM EST for a few hours of overwatch. Check out our forums and become a member and then we can get you on our Discord. Or just ask a staff member how to join us Fridays.

  14. Friday Night Mayhem: 'In house' at ADK November is done and we are halfway through December, so what happened in November when it comes to hero selection, meta and how much fun did we have? Sigma was in full swing and we saw shields stack up as the best defense. Naturally, the solution was to have shield break against any combo like Sigma-Rein or Sigma-Orisa. Sigma is an interesting hero as he is very mobile and can end up doing a lot of damage. One particular quickplay match we had, the enemy Sigma did over 13k damage on Havana. So in the right hand, Sigma is very dominant. Overall we saw more Ana and Moira and saw less of Mercy and Zen. Doomfist if played right, can be very good in the current meta. Roadhog got some buffs that have stayed into December in a response to double shield, so he is a strong choice at the moment. Winston and Hammond can be useful, but only in certain situations. If you do run Roadhog Orisa a very strong pick for support is Baptiste. Besides learning Sigma, we had a very hard time against Mei and Reaper. I got killed by reaper flanks a lot and Mei has been and always will be one of the most annoying Heroes. We play Quickplay since our Competitive ranks are not close enough for us to play, so instead we queued up some Classic Quickplay and lost to GOATs and destroyed some dive comps, we don’t think Dive is coming back any time soon. Most Friday nights we usually get to a full team, but we also love playing Arcade when we have more than six players. So come join us for some fun. 16. ADK Member Watch: Funky the Party Monster IGNs: Cardinal Funky and DJFunky Game: Overwatch ADK Role: Overwatch admin Overwatch roles: Can play all roles Funky has been a member of ADK since October of 2018. He wasn’t a member long as he was asked to be an admin of Overwatch and he accepted. Since then he has been at nearly every Friday night event we have held. We can count on him being able to run it on his own if need be as he brings a great personality to the Overwatch section. Funky has played every single competitive season of Overwatch with his highest rank being Master. He ranked that high playing tank, but he can really play any role. When we play, he most often plays DPS and Support. I took a moment to ask Funky some questions, and these are his responses: What brought you to ADK? During the time I had met you guys, I was playing Overwatch competitive matches solo, daily. After a while of doing so, the game quickly became stale. So, in order to fix that I started finding groups to play with in the group-finder, found you guys, and decided to keep playing with you guys ever since. What part of the ADK community brings you the most joy? The laughter, sadness, joy, and everything surrounding us coming together to complete an objective, while also having fun. I am simply happy to be around others who love to play Overwatch. What game could you play for the rest of your life? Tetris. Tetris is simple and nothing but pure enjoyment, for me. I don't take the game too seriously and even when it frustrates me I don't feel any actual sadness from losing. I wouldn't be able to play most of the games I play now in the future. They are too competitive and challenging. If it’s going to be a game I would spend the rest of my life with, it would have to be simple. When you're not playing games, what do you do? I write, read, and learn more about my profession as a programmer. I also roller-blade. But, outside of gaming, I live a rather simple life. Why should people join us Friday nights to play Overwatch? As a competitive shooter, Overwatch can cause burnout on anyone. Hell, there was a time where I didn't want to join the group on certain Friday's because Overwatch felt like a chore. However, when you are surrounded by a bunch of peers that try to win, but still smile after a loss, it makes up for the game feeling like a chore. Most games should be fun to play and being around the peeps in =ADK= make that happen. Join us Friday nights 6 PM PST/8 PM CST/9 PM EST for a few hours of overwatch. 18. What is going to be in Overwatch 2 Blizzard has announced that it will be releasing a sequel to Overwatch. Blizzard has been trying out many new game modes in Overwatch 1 and listening to player feedback, which the idea of PvE actually came from player feedback. When Overwatch released it was a map-based game where you could play in Quickplay (unranked) or competitive (ranked). Soon after the launch of Overwatch 1 and with its success Blizzard slowly started releasing new parts to Overwatch 1. They introduced PvE elements where you play out the current lore on newly released maps. One of the latest expansions to Overwatch 1 was the Arcade where you can play many different game modes. As each new part became successful, Blizzard felt it necessary to build on the PvE experience and release Overwatch 2. Blizzard has spent a lot of time developing the various stories in Overwatch, so we should expect some great storylines and great new game modes. Overwatch 2 Zero Hour Announcement: Overwatch 2 gameplay trailer: What will the PvE be like? If you are a fan of the lore in Overwatch, be ready for new lore in Overwatch 2. The lore will start 60 years in the future after Winston has pressed the recall button. Jeff Kaplan has said that there will definitely be game progression when it comes to leveling heroes, but he did not confirm if there will be progression when playing the story mode. Blizzard is still working on creating the story mode content for Overwatch 2, and the release of Overwatch 2 means PvE is here to stay. Blizzard is still open to feedback, and the success of the Archives missions means that we will see more of those mission types. With hero leveling, Kaplan mentioned that there will be a level cap, but Blizzard really doesn’t want that to be the focus like in World of Warcraft where it is all about getting to the highest level (and then gear of course). Like in the past with PvE on Overwatch 1, there will be different difficulties you can choose in Overwatch 2. Are there going to be loot boxes in Overwatch 2? Kaplan said in an interview that they are exploring a number of business models for Overwatch 2. With the recent backlash over loot boxes in many new games, they may want to move away from loot boxes. Are the heroes going to be the same in Overwatch 2? No heroes will be removed, and we should expect to see some new heroes in Overwatch 2. Can you play offline in Overwatch 2? So far Blizzard has firmly said that you cannot play offline. Kaplan did not say that they will make it available in the future, he plainly said that offline mode is not available in Overwatch 2. What about all my skins in Overwatch 1? Do not worry, all those hours you spent getting loot boxes or money spent on loot boxes for those skins, they will all be moved over the Overwatch 2. What about my rank in Overwatch 1? Kaplan has said that they want to honor the achievements you have earned in Overwatch 1 and expect those to transfer over to Overwatch 2. What if I have Overwatch 2 and want to play with my friends on Overwatch 1? Similar to other Blizzard games, you will be able to play with your friends who have Overwatch 1 even if you are on Overwatch 2. Kaplan said that the Overwatch 1 servers will stay up as long as players are queueing up in Overwatch 1. Are there new modes in Overwatch 2? Yes, the new game mode announced is the “push” map that is similar to escorting the payload. Instead, you accompany a giant robot as you push through the map. Check out the second video above to see the gameplay, video. Are there going to be new PvP maps in Overwatch 2? Yes, we should expect regularly released maps like in Overwatch 1. They have not released the full details about the maps yet, video. What happens to our digital items from Overwatch 1? They will be transferred over to Overwatch 2. Who is Echo? Echo is a character that was released in a lot of art when Overwatch 2 was announced. It is not confirmed whether Echo is hero 32 or not, it is also likely that Sojourn could be hero 32. We do not know what Echo’s purpose is yet, so stay tuned. Joining ADK: Do you now want to play some Overwatch? Come join us on our Discord. We play every Friday night at 6 PM PST/ 8 PM CST/ 9 PM EST. We range in comp levels, but all enjoy playing arcade and quickplay. All you need to do is ask a staff member for an invite to our Discord server. Extra stuff: Check out these answers from Jeff Kaplan, he touches on a lot of Overwatch 2 topics.

20. Friday Night Mayhem: 'In house' at ADK Each Friday night we play Overwatch, and August was a fun month. We got to find out about Sigma, who is now being run often as a double shield with Rein or Orisa. This month two teams we were rooting for didn't make it to the Overwatch League playoffs, mine being Dynasty. Atlanta Reign picked it up, and we loved watching them play. We didn't do any betting on the Grand Finals in September, but we made our guesses. About the Clips The first clip is Food getting a perfect grav. Later on Food is the one who finds out how nasty TP play is. We started TPing on to points regularly in September. @nickphan and I have been practicing our Orisa Hog pulls, and it definitely paid off with that pull into the well. I was pretty proud of my firestrike that killed that Mercy. Sure, the monkey would have got her, but I got her first 0_0. The next clip is of a solid shatter that helped us get a Team Kill. The next clip is my favorite of August, the enemy team completely thought the point was theirs until Food ulted. The backstory on the last clip is that the enemy team never took the first point, they didn't know what to about @CardinalFunky. Thats it for the month of August, I will be doing catch up on Septemeber, October and November. glhf!

  22. July was a great month for Overwatch at ADK. We had a lot of fun playing quite a bit of Quickplay. We jumped in headfirst into the Summer Games. We had some members who got really into Overwatch League and now we have a small group who watches every weekend. The Sigma news was great, and we’re hashing out how to play him now in August. Join us on Discord to pwn some noobs.
  23. Overwatch Fun at ADK for July 2019

I’m getting better with every pull. We went on a winning streak when we started to play the current comp we have which is Symmetra heavy. One of our tanks, Nick is always reliable when he chooses Winston and it is pretty obvious why in this clip getting the Widow with a quad kill. Funky can play just about anything, but with the current meta we rarely lose when he switched to McCree. Then with Funky as Pharrah, in the clip, that was our first initial push as we just strolled in confidently and took the point. I then plan a great shatter, and I am so happy Rein has always been really playable. Food is one of our newer members and he can also play just about any hero, in this clip, he shows his skill as Reaper in Quickplay. The next clip is from some arcade we like to play called Gauntlet, and he was not supposed to stop shooting, I wanted to deflect! The next clip is great due to Nick nearly being dead but then pulls off a triple kill. Sirene is our best healer, but she lets us know in Arcade that she can whoop us with many different heroes. The next two clips are Funky completely stomping the enemy. I have so many clips from him since he constantly gets POTG. That's it! You should join us on Discord with the link from above and jump down into our Overwatch channel. GLHF!
