Razer - "For Gamers. By Gamers." Do You Believe It?

Razer just sent out a tweet that said they take the role of being a company "For Gamers. By Gamers." Seriously. . .

So we want to hear your thoughts about Razer. .do you think they are a company that is truly for the gamer, or not?

My personal thought is they've done a lot of great things for gaming in general and have definitely been trying to push the envelope for the gaming community but I do believe that there are others who might be trying to push them a little further.  Like Corsair for example....I've got a Corsair mouse and keyboard and I love both of them and they make me question going back to Razer for my home gaming.

Granted I do have an older Razer keyboard that I use at work everyday..and it did manage to make it through the Arizona Summer Heat in the car (it did melt slightly).  But I want to get a new one and would prefer an almost silent mechanical keyboard as when I'm awake at 5 am I can get pretty grumpy and even hearing my own clickity clack of the keys can get pretty annoying. (If I'm missing out on an almost silent Razer mechanical keyboard please let me know!)

But I do think that Razer is truly trying to do what's best for gamers, but they do have some stiff competition out there these days. Min-Liang Tan is always communicating with Razer fans and haters for that matter and I think that's something that a lot of gamers truly appreciate. It means a lot knowing that a CEO of 2 large companies cares and is willing to go and communicate on a personal level with consumers. Although sometimes the consumers might not like what he says, I think they can all agree it's a welcome feeling compared to some companies out there.

So what do you think of Razer? Do you think they really do take the "For Gamers. By Gamers." seriously?   I'd like to hear your thoughts!

    User Feedback

I suppose they take the "for gamers, by gamers" seriously. they have a vast setup of peripherals and lots of projects. but as you say the competition is fierce.

for me however there is only Razer when it comes to mouse keuboard and mats. in total there is only 3 brands for my gaming rig except for my Saitek X55 (for Elite Dangerous) and those are Razer, Asus and Corsair.

I don't know for silent Mechanical keys if you still want the tactile feedback. I guess their "stealth" line could be something for you?

The only thing Razer that I have left is the Naga, which even then I don't use it much anymore.  As I had that for Tera, FF and WoW. . which I haven't really played in a while.  Dabbed in Tera again for a few minutes but that was it.

As far as their 'stealth' line. . . all the videos that I've seen of anything quiet for them I haven't really liked. .granted I haven't tried them out in person.  Might have to go find somewhere to try out some of the keyboards in person.

It should  also say "for our pockets"

I have tried a variety of their products and when the time has come to replace those I have moved on to other things.

Black widow chroma was buggy as hell

Headset i got was utter trash and had no directional recognition or distance fall off. playing CS, someone across the map to my left made the same sounds as someone 2 feet away to my right.

Only products of theirs I still use is the naga epic, this is the only mouse that I can play mmos on. My hands are too small to comfortably hit numbers on my keyboard and there just isnt an alternative.

And their goliath mouspad that I got when they did the overwatch gear.

@AOBLXIX P.S. Most of the corsair mechanical keyboards are quieter than razers default switches. They do have the silent (brown i think?) but i bought a refurbished k70 and i will never go back.

Razer Naga is the best thing they got. everything else is low-quality junk. I even think the naga is junk honestly just open it up and you will see why. also the Razer synapse program is terrible and is slapped together.

I do agree with that the Razer Synapse program could use a little work, just seemed clunky to me when I would use it.  As far as the keyboard that I've had for a while now and use at work. . one of the older Black Widows I haven't really had complaints with it.  I just happen to like my Corsair keyboard more.

I don't like their driver system, at all.  I hate programs like Synapse, I want the drivers in place and in general out of my way... I'm pretty old school, my first PC I built for myself was a 286, back when the floppy drive still ruled the roost...  Albeit I was 10 but...  Gawd I feel old all of the sudden.....

Then again, I like being able to set my Razer Naga's resolution, I've usually got it jacked up so high no-one else likes to use my system.  (Double bonus!)

At any rate, I do like their hardware, I bought my Naga Ultimate 5 plus years ago, I easily use my pc up to and over 14 hours every day as I work from home, and my headset, keyboard and mouse look it.  They all still work pretty well, minus the scroll wheel on the mouse from time to time, a cleaning usually fixes that though.

I've worked with the Ripsaw stream casting device as well, and that seems pretty stable too, and a buddy of mine has a Razer notebook he swears by.  As looks go, Razer devices are sleek.

My G10 keyboard is starting to get pretty warn out, to a point where I wouldn't mind trading it up for something a bit nicer, so I'm in that same game, I like the reviews on Corsair keyboards, I like what I hear about the Razer keyboards too.

All in all, kind of feels like either brand could be a good choice.

so for me razer is usually way to expensive and when it comes down to it,  the only thing they make that stands out over and above all others (becasue no one else make one) is a razer tartarus chroma which if you dont know is a mini side keyboard for your left hand.and it has improved my MOBA experience and overwatch experience. as far as headphones go ive had logitech, turtle beach, and my new one that i got a few days ago which was cosair. i use all the lines wireless mostly becasue on a laptop i have wires....i hate even having to plug stuff in to charge em. so i use the cosair void pro which for 80 is a nice price, it hasnt disconnected at all and are overall pretty sturdy. they also have dolby surround, where as my old logitech would disconect at random. but they had good 7.1surround sound if you could get over the disconnects. as far as mouse go i also love my logitech wirelss g602 which has 8 programmable keys on it and you change change dpi on the mouse. as far as razer goes, their wired headsets are ok, but not great the build quality sucks and i wish they were more comfortable, and they are usualy a lil bit to expensive... long story short i pretty much use a lil bit over everyons gaming gear. so right now i have a razer tartarus chroma, logitech g602 wireless mouse, and a cosair void pro RGB wireless headset. and im pretty content atm, hoping to get a new mouse pad thats not so tore up (from ADK store)

A friend of mine swears by his "Orb Weaver" he's had a hard time adopting the tartarus because of the differences, I thought of getting one for the longest time, but I need more desk room lol.

Toast is always a good thing!

And of course the hovering mouse!

    P.S. Is it April yet?

    • On Tuesday, Studio Wildcard came out and talked about an exploit that has existed since August of 2015. . yes that's right. . 2015.  So they did give a stern warning to those who were found using said exploit but they actually just proved why Community Hosted ARK Servers like ours here at ADK are far superior to Official Servers.
