This article is based on the premise of showing people the start of each of the potential packs and a video showing the starting of each to give you an idea of actual game play. Hopefully this will help you on making an educated decision on your vote.
~~~~ Age Of Engineering ~~~~
Age Of Engineering is a tech-centered mod-pack with a technology tree, focus in progression and hundreds of changed (harder) recipes. This is achieved by gating progression by several blocks and items leading to the next age. The pack is divided in 15 ages, reaching the next age is awarded with an achievement and a trophy you can place. What you can do and have to do in each age to progress and reach the next age is covered in a guide (from FTB Utilities, just click the book in the top left corner).The goal of the pack is to give a longer lasting experience than other packs, also giving the challenge to automate almost everything. It also features several lesser known mechanics from well-known mods or you have to tackle some well-known problems in a different manner as you lack either some blocks/items you would normally have or they are just too expensive at that stage of the game, the problems mostly how to automate this task or how to generate more power with the resources I have.This pack is heavily inspired from FTB Infinity Expert Mode, but is still very different in many ways. The goal was also to not make the recipes harder to just make them harder, but also make sense and balance recipes when two or more mods offer a different solution to a problem.
~~~~ Sprout ~~~~
Many packs tout that they are exploration focused. Here, is one that is in a truer sense than nearly all before it. Explore an immersive world full of custom structures to find NPCs, some of whom have quests for you, but be careful, there are many dangers lurking for the unprepared, especially as you travel further from spawn.The pack also comes with two distinct pack modes, Normal mode, recipes are tweaked a bit, all of the exploration content is there, but not absolutely required. This is the default mode. Scavenger mode the 'truer' version of the pack. Some items and blocks lack recipes, and must be obtained by exploring and interacting with NPCs and the world around you. Significantly more difficult than normal mode, in part due to all armor being scavenged.
~~~~ Space Astronomy 2 ~~~~
This is a space based mod-pack, that include loads of the latest tech and space mods. Explore the Universe with the help of the provided achievement book that will lead you around and that required steps that you will need to take. This pack is focused on you seeing the stars literally, it's is space meets FTB you get a lot of your favorite mods and then now you apply space to it and it multiplies its' coolness by 10 times the original amount.
~~~~ Craft Of The Titans ~~~~
In Craft Of The Titans you assume the roll of a modern day Pioneer, sent to new lands to secure resources for your war trodden homeland. This new land is brewing with danger, at the pinnacle of which are the Titans. The Titans are boss creatures that rule over the many dimensions, including The Abyssal Wastelands, The Aether, and of course the Overworld, The Nether, and The End. In less RP terms, your goals in this pack are to become as powerful as the foes you face and bring down nearly 20 different challenging boss "Titans". Every inch of the mods in this pack have been customized to blend together in a progressive and challenging way. This IS a difficult modpack, but maybe not in the same was as you are used to. In addition to resource heavy recipe changes, mobs have ruthless AI that scales as you continue through the story. Experience Minecraft combat more explosive than ever. We don't leave you empty handed though. All of the weapons and armor have been re-balanced and buffed. You can use Axes, Bows, Spells, Swords, and more... each are balanced to be as strong as the next. Fight how YOU want to fight. Pressing the " ~ " tilde key will open the quest book with over 200+ unique quests. A new class of "daily" quests open that will challenge your ability to automate and manufacture. You can send large bulk Care Packages of goods and materials back home in exchange for powerful Titan Runes and materials. Craft hard to get end game items, or use the Dire Crafting Table to assemble Creative weapons and tools. There is always more to the story in Craft Of The Titans.
~~~~ Regrowth ~~~~
It's a HQM driven pack where you find yourself in a desolate wasteland, lacking in natural growth and sparse of materials except for a few boulders and dead, charred trees. You'll quickly discover the depths of the earth to be barren as well, devoid of any form of ore. You will need to find a way to start restoring the presence of nature back to the world, and in doing so find yourself a way to start producing the materials you'll need to produce a thriving industry. The pack is heavily adjusted to be a more cohesive experience through the usage of minetweaker and modtweaker, with just over 1000 lines of scripts at the time of writing this. A large part of the idea behind the pack came from a couple of "what if?"s. Specifically, the pack was designed to be without ore, but while still having a world to work with. The other was to do so without the use of something like Ex Nihilo, finding a way to unlock access to resources for the player with the standard mods that exist in the pack.
