What Ship Should I Buy?

Well for cargo and exploration the DUR is a good choice. And from what I can guess it should fair just fine in a fight with similar weaponry to the base freelancer.

We haven't seen many cargo specific ships yet (primarily the MISC Hull series),  but the Freelancer will probably be the best for a cargo-centric merc fighter. The main difference with the DUR is less cargo space traded for a longer range, scanning hardware, and upgraded jump drive. It's also short one set of missile hardpoints compared the the standard Freelancer, so unless you plan on running cargo or jobs out on the edge of space you might be better off with the standard variant.

In the end, keep in mind cargo/merc gameplay is the farthest out of all releases, so you won't be playing it as a cargo ship for at least a year or two. You'll get to fly it around in AC sometime though eventually..

Meh my cutlass red sacrifices 160 fu to not be a 12 year old drawing of a phallic object in cryengine, comes with an asteroid hangar and "search and rescue" docking abilities. :p

Joking aside, DUR should be a good start. Or maybe a max, good thing about the freelance is there should be jump points the taurus can't fit through but DUR can.
