      Battlefield F.A.Q. [Please Read]   04/18/2016

      After multiple questions coming up that were about the same topic we have decided to create a little F.A.Q regarding some of the most talked about topics. Please make sure you read EVERY question and answer. First thing's first, please use the search feature before you ask a question because it might have been answered already: CLICK HERE TO USE THE SEARCH FEATURE Q. I've been banned what do I do? A. Visit the "Ban Info" menu at the top of the page and click that appropriate link that relates to your ban. Then make sure you fill out the form properly after reading the guidelines to submitting a ban dispute Q. What do I do if someone is hacking? A. If you are in game you can report said individual using @report 'playername' REASON HERE If that doesn't help you, you can always submit a ban request by visiting the "Ban Info" menu at the top of the page and clicking the appropriate link Q. Can I submit a request for a new server, or a smaller special server? A. Sure but to put it bluntly most requests have been made already so rather than making a request that has already been made you should visit THIS LINK. That link talks about how we can go about getting more servers and what needs to be done to get those. Q. Well why don't you change some of the servers that you have now to those special servers? A. Because we have those servers as they are what stay full and are the easiest to keep populated. Just because 5 people like something doesn't mean that it's a smart option to keep a server that those 5 people think is a good server. Q. Why don't you change the ticket counts? A. Ok this is where you need to start realizing that the admins at ADK have been running servers for well over a combined 20 years if not more. We promise we're not going to do something that won't work and if we do happen to do that we have our admins making sure that we try to provide the best servers possible for as many people as possible. We love suggestions but when the suggestions are made that make us seem like we don't know what the heck we are doing that's when it's a little overboard. Again just because you and your buddies like something doesn't mean it's a great idea for a large gaming community as the server won't stay populated and pay for itself. We do want to start bringing more of those to the community, but please refer to the answer of the 3rd questions where a link was posted regarding different servers and how to make it happen. But to answer this question some, on certain servers like our BF3 TDM, it is meant to be a quick round server where you have a match that ends quickly. Some people don't want to play a round that goes on for 30 minutes, and a lot of people have enjoyed it. And again our admins do look at servers and how they are doing, but don't forget just because a few people want something doesn't mean everyone wants it. Q. How come I can't use explosives in a no explosives server but everybody else can? A. In actuality those individuals aren't supposed to either, but they are choosing to break the rules We are humans and unfortunately we aren't perfect to catch everyone. But our admins do the best that they can to be perfect and we have our auto admin in place for no explosives, but it comes down to rules are rules. If you choose to break them and you get in trouble, that is your fault and there is nobody else to blame. You can make reports and if admins aren't in the server they will go over them to see those who break the rules often and will deal with them. Just because an admin isn't in the server doesn't mean that we aren't looking at the reports. Q. Why don't you have servers that have multiple expansion maps on them? A. Because they are quite difficult to maintain unless you have people willing to be in the servers and make sure they are populated day in and day out. Please refer again to the link in the answer of the third question as this relates to that. If we have people who are going to make sure that these servers will indeed stay populated then possibly but so far we haven't been able to get that. In the past we've done B2K which a lot of people were begging for an it went nowhere. Q. There's someone cursing and using racist remarks in the server, why haven't they been banned? A. Because the reality of it is nobody will ever be happy, these are not remarks that you will see any admin using but we aren't going to police everybody and what they say. What one person might find offensive, the other person might not. So if we remove a few words then we'll need to remove all words that people find offensive. Now if the individual is spamming constantly and/or just being a troll about it you can always submit a ban request and let us know what was happening. Admins will then look over it to see what action needs to be taken. Q. Why don't you kick people who have a high ping? A. In reality high ping doesn't cause as many problems as a lot of people think. Admins have been talked to about how to handle something that is absurd but they will not kick someone with a 150 ping because people are complaining about them. We have members from all over the world and we're not going to limit what servers they play on. Someone's high ping to a server does not cause a server to lag. If the server is lagging it'll be everyone noticing it. BUT if there are only a few individuals who are complaining about lag, it's more than likely an issue with their connection to the server. The best thing to do would be do a tracert to the server, but most people don't want to believe that they might have an issue on their end or somewhere between their house and the server. And the reality is that there could be an issue that someone is seeing. There are plenty of posts about ping in the servers so feel free to do a search to look them up. Q. Why don't you just disable weapons that you can't use in the no explosive server? A. Don't you think we would have done that if it was possible? :) Q. Why can't I dispute a ban after 2 months? A. If people cared so much to play on our servers after a perma ban, they would come and dispute within the first 2 months. We feel 2 months is more than enough time to dispute a perma ban. Q. Why don't you have anything besides 64 slot servers? A. Again refer to the link in the answer to question number three. But long story short, it's not easy to keep small number servers populated as often as possible when we have as many servers as we do. Due to the fact that you could lose 15 people at a time in one game, there goes half the population of the server which could indeed empty the server. So if it's wanted we need people willing to put in the time and effort to do such and to make it so that there is always a queue for the servers. Q. Why does it seem like you guys get frustrated when people ask certain questions? A. Seriously though, it's because they are normally questions that have been answered multiple times and most of the time it appears that the question wasn't thought about in the manner of "Hey I wonder if anybody else has posted about this." Unlike Battlelog where things normally get hidden and admins don't respond, we do see pretty much 99% of everything that is posted without it getting lost because of the fact that we have admins for each particular section of the community. And those admins do make sure that we respond to topics where someone might have a question. So with that last question being answerd, please just take 10 seconds to browse the forums and search to see if your topic has been discussed before you go and make a post. If it's not too old or hasn't been answered feel free to leave your input but a lot of the same questions are coming up over and over. Ping, ping, ping, why can't I use explosives, ping, ping, can we have more servers, why can't we have these maps, why do you only have like 200 tickets on the TDM server, 64 players is a lot of people to have on a server, where are the expansion maps, why is this person using curse words and racist remarks and hasn't been banned yet. As always we do appreciate and ask for suggestions but most of the questions that we see over and over have been answered and could be answered for you by making a search on the forums. General Battlefield Feedback Needed!!

As the title says there is general feedback needed for BF4 in general.  I was sent a message from someone who is also in communications with some folks in the BF4 World.  They have requested to get general information regarding the game and what could be better, what still isn't fixed, what should have been fixed before, etc, etc. . 

 

 

If anyone turns this topic into a flamewar or posts things that ARE NOT constructive they will be removed without warning.

  • Gadget glitch
  • More server providers, to provide for healthy price competition
  • A way to disable nades,rpgs and so forth without taking a server out of a ranked mode. It could be BF personal no explosive mod that would include not only explosive but what ever that can be equipped in the nade slot.
  • Hide pings as it was back in BF3
  • allow people to walk into each other without being blocked (example) people who block doorways, and stairs. getting stuck on people prone or laying down behind or next to you.
  • Conquest maps to scale pending on how many people are in a server. (example) low pop server 10 vs 10 on lockers it would be 3 bases rather then 5  D, C, B  20v20 would revert to normal size A, B, C, D, E
  • fix metro infront of red stairs - legs stick threw ceiling which allow people the floor below to kill them.
  • Fix the "head glitch" 
  • Allow for re sizing the mini map
  • Raise the flag markers so its not in view of you aiming into a doorway, perfect example of this is lockers D going top C and aiming threw the doorway B marker seems to block view.
  • While the netcode seems great on CTE it does not on live. Still kill trades, and death around corners is still happening. CTE vs Live the difference is amazing. it's like day and night as far as smoothness and kills.

With the net code issues knifing and counter knifing is just a lost cause. If the counter knife mechanic were removed it would be fine but I am tired of knifing someone from the back only to be counter knifed.

Yes, I am aware this is something small but it effects me.

Most of my suggestions are reflective of an administrative stand point.

Either add a separate admin Spectator slot, or have the current slot immune to the Battlefield effects (flashbangs, smoke, flares) - tone this down if we can't remove those items from a player's inventory on special rule set servers.

For all gadgets, grenades, and explosives, in Spectator mode, show a name over the gadget/item when in 'cross hairs'. So you can see who threw the smoke grenade, placed the claymore, etc. If we can't change load out restrictions as @[member='Jokerz'] had mentioned.

Ability to scroll through in game chat.

Block commander slots until a certain population has been reached (unless this is already doable - if so, we need to talk about this in next meeting). A commander on one team while 6 v 6 is inviting baserapes.

Better battlelog statistics for administrative functions - player count, avg players, map popularity, mode popularity - export as csv or XML.

An ability to see the next server/map/mode each player joins after leaving our servers would be sweet; especially for noticing trends. Then we can adjust our other servers to the majority of the players' desires. (eg. tired of metro conquest, most players are leaving for rush all maps).

Change sound of medpack/ammo pack explosions so they don't look/sound like flashbangs.

Well defined spots that are not glitch spots? (metro third floor, etc)....

There are lots of great threads on Reddit.com as well if someone has the time to copy/paste.

Day and Night versions of most if not all maps. Would be useful for IRNV and Flashlights and tac-lights. BF3 night mod made me drool.

 

Fixed knifing, no one wants to knife because you're more likely to glitch and have them counter you.

 

Increased suppression against sniper rifles, as it stands you have a good chance to still hit your target even when under heavy fire by more than one source.

 

Laser sights showing through walls

 

In-game emblem blocker, I hate seeing people with racist emblems and sexual emblems.

 

Laser Lock-On rockets should be a one hit kill against all air vehicles and transport vehicles.

 

Flashbangs should not affect spectators.

 

Igla has no real use other than being able to reacquire lock after it breaks, damage should be higher as player has to manually maintain the lock at all times. 

 

Ballistic Shield glass needs a buff, 2 or 3 hit would work better, this way a player has a chance to move once they know someone is attempting to break the glass.

I have a couple things and someone mentioned that a fix was possibly in the works so if it is i apologize now. As a person who only plays assault it would be great to have:

 

  • defibs that actually work. More often than not i die trying to revive someone who ends up being too close or too far away. Maybe a range indicator to go along with that or something?
  • To be able to revive someone that has slid down a hill/escalator. As well as hidden bodies or ones that are stuck in a wall.
  • The ability to decrease the size of revive icons or make them transparent to a degree so it doesn't block your target.
  • A revive timer of some sort so i know if i can make it to revive someone or not to waste my time and die trying.
  • When you place a med pack to have it stay where you put it instead of sliding downstairs or the mountainside.

That's all i can think of and again sorry if this is already being done!

1. I like the idea of flash not impacting spectators, but then how would we know when they go off.

 

2. I agree with being able to remove items without moving from ranked mode, but I'm not sure they will do that.  Instead how about allowing users to have an empty slot for grenades.  That way they could remove them from their kit.  Would help them from not throwing and we as spectators could see they do not have any.

 

3. In spectator mode I would like to be able to go through gates and possibly walls.  Sucks to have to slide between a crack in Lockers to get form the top of c to the bottom.

 

4. As a player I want the lasers to stop going through walls (mentioned above).

 

5. Just read Mrs. Virtues's post.  I would like to be able to revive people if they fall next to a med pack or anything else on the ground.  Hate to have to switch to my gun shoot a pack just so I can revive.

 

6. I have read that in CTE they are fixing the Flag indicators and icons.  Sucks running down a hallway and the other player is hidden behind the C, B, and A indicators.

 

That is all I can think of at this point.

Improve Operation Metro:

 

Take the rush map of Metro and make it Conquest Large with more flags so there is more to do besides being stuck at B and it's less of a race to B.

 

Make it easier to spot while being Squad Leader instead of constant ordering being sent out instead of spotting.

 

Make it where You have to hold down Q and click on the order button to give order instead of just hitting Q.

 

Make being Squad Leader useful and worth it.. some people do not even notice that they are squad leader and do not give out orders.

 

Adding the ability to use weapon camos on Your soldier would be really awesome along with solder camos on weapons, a lot of people have liked this idea and agree.

 

that is all I can think of at the moment but they are really good suggestions.

a proper kill cam not a cam that doesn' show you the person afterwards, but shows you the actual view and shot, sort of like CoD4,  that way its easier to see if the person is bs or not

Sorry that i already posted but i have a couple of more suggestions:

 

getting suppression points while using the Ballistic shield would be great so people feel useful when using the ballistic shield.

 

if You are having a bad round and Your team pushes up with only a few tickets left.. boost their tickets up to give them a chance to win

 

but make sure they have to work together to get that victory when they earn more tickets that same round.

 

less explosive spam on infantry maps would be great.. less mortar spam and UCAV spam would be great.. people really enjoy spamming those on Operation locker.

 

having the ability to speak to Your whole team with VOIP would be useful so You do not have to switch squads to ask for ammo.. nobody ever cares about type chat so

they won't see You asking for ammo and if You are on the russian team they won't know what Your soldier is saying..

 

also giving the option to have all soldiers speak english instead of a different language would be a great option like from Battlefield 2.

Big one for me make the 30hz tickrate visible in server info and give the ability to turn it off to the renter of the server not just the provider. As it stands the provider without the renter knowing turn it off and on at their discretion.

I do not have a huge list of nit picking issues to light up the scoreboard with... But there has always been something off with BF4.. Or the general difference between BF4 and BF3...

 

You see, if you, for example played BF4, straight, for several months and then went back to a game/mode/map, that you were good at in BF3, you would notice that you were just running around the map, "kickin ass and takin names".   

 

Why is that?   well...  Lets not open up the side of a Buick please. But generally speaking, The overall maneuverability in BF3 was so much better, so much more reactive, stable, precise, etc, etc...    

 

 

So, what am I rambling about?  I am simply wishing that BF4 would react and feel just like BF3. This has been on my BF4 Xmas list since launch.

 

and Guess what... the next big September update is supposed to do just that...  address just that...  and not just solve it... address and fix... to where they both feel the same...

forgot to add I would also like to see the  clans that run the servers have more power to adjust settings in the game, ie like spearhead used to do, let the admins disable weapons and gadgets so that way no idiots can use throwables or explosive ammo and that way less babysitting and clan members can actually enjoy playing the game

Sorry to add something now, but thought about it during the ADK event last night.  I want the bullets to come from the barrel of the gun and not the head of a person.  Tired of being shot by someone when all i can see is the tip of their head and they are shooting through a rock.

Make the f35 and j20 equal in turning speed and maneuver capabilities

In conquest make the attack jets and stealth jets more comparable so that a skilled player in the attack jet can kill a average stealth jet player.

Re balance the stationary AA that sits in the uncaps so that it still does damage just not at the rate it currently does, Right now if you get hit by the thing you rarely have a chance to fly away.

FIX ecm, currently when you use ecm it will not distract rockets and you end up getting hit anyway. I would like ecm to be able to distract rockets like it should!

Fix the rare glitch that occurs in the attack jet where your air radar does not show up resulting in that player having a major disadvantage.

 

 

I cant think of any other jet balances <3

1) Less focus on attachments/gadgets/explosives. We do not need 200,000 loadout combinations, it just causes balancing issues and more chances for bugs/exploits.

 

2) Take all that time you saved not brainstorming/implementing a bunch of useless accessories and spend it on making high quality maps that play well.

 

3) Game modes. While some game modes can be unique and interesting, most just come off gimmicky. Probably due to all the time spent on loadout options. Make sure to design maps and balance them for CQ, Rush, TDM. Those are the modes that drive the core of the game, BF4 rush is almost completely dead because of the terrible map design for rush gamemodes.

 

4) Mod support. If you give the community more ability to customize games (AKA letting us actually restrict usage of explosives for the sake of Locker/Metro) and allow development of user created game modes, I'm sure you'll find the crowd-sourced modes and map changes will be created/tested/fixed faster than DICE could hope to do it. Well made and fun modes will rise in popularity and bad ones will fall quickly. The community could do most of the work DICE seems to be struggling to handle themselves, and all for free. Giving DICE more time/money to spend on core game components.

 

5) Player appreciation. When you want to "apologize" to the community you let down every day for a year, you're gonna have to do better than XP packs and dog tags. Nobody actually cares about that. Create a simplistic set of maps for TDM (like Noshahr Canals) or release a game mode for pistols/knives only or something, and make it available to everyone for free. That might actually make some players thankful for your apology and less hateful towards your company, rather than being more offended by getting some XP packs and dog tags we have no use for and calling it "player appreciation". How much do you actually appreciate your players?

Just wanted to add also to one of the points Wes made! Modding is what made BF into the franchise it has become. The mods/maps that came from BF1942 were amazing, one such called Desert Combat led to the creation of BF2. Let the modding community once again have a chance to produce such great mods as Desert Combat or the WWII mod Forgotten hope. Let the community, create great maps that will add to the gamers experience, add in or re-skin weapons and vehicles.
