      Battlefield F.A.Q. [Please Read]   04/18/2016

After multiple questions coming up that were about the same topic we have decided to create a little F.A.Q regarding some of the most talked about topics. Please make sure you read EVERY question and answer. First thing's first, please use the search feature before you ask a question because it might have been answered already: CLICK HERE TO USE THE SEARCH FEATURE Q. I've been banned what do I do? A. Visit the "Ban Info" menu at the top of the page and click that appropriate link that relates to your ban. Then make sure you fill out the form properly after reading the guidelines to submitting a ban dispute Q. What do I do if someone is hacking? A. If you are in game you can report said individual using @report 'playername' REASON HERE If that doesn't help you, you can always submit a ban request by visiting the "Ban Info" menu at the top of the page and clicking the appropriate link Q. Can I submit a request for a new server, or a smaller special server? A. Sure but to put it bluntly most requests have been made already so rather than making a request that has already been made you should visit THIS LINK. That link talks about how we can go about getting more servers and what needs to be done to get those. Q. Well why don't you change some of the servers that you have now to those special servers? A. Because we have those servers as they are what stay full and are the easiest to keep populated. Just because 5 people like something doesn't mean that it's a smart option to keep a server that those 5 people think is a good server. Q. Why don't you change the ticket counts? A. Ok this is where you need to start realizing that the admins at ADK have been running servers for well over a combined 20 years if not more. We promise we're not going to do something that won't work and if we do happen to do that we have our admins making sure that we try to provide the best servers possible for as many people as possible. We love suggestions but when the suggestions are made that make us seem like we don't know what the heck we are doing that's when it's a little overboard. Again just because you and your buddies like something doesn't mean it's a great idea for a large gaming community as the server won't stay populated and pay for itself. We do want to start bringing more of those to the community, but please refer to the answer of the 3rd questions where a link was posted regarding different servers and how to make it happen. But to answer this question some, on certain servers like our BF3 TDM, it is meant to be a quick round server where you have a match that ends quickly. Some people don't want to play a round that goes on for 30 minutes, and a lot of people have enjoyed it. And again our admins do look at servers and how they are doing, but don't forget just because a few people want something doesn't mean everyone wants it. Q. How come I can't use explosives in a no explosives server but everybody else can? A. In actuality those individuals aren't supposed to either, but they are choosing to break the rules We are humans and unfortunately we aren't perfect to catch everyone. But our admins do the best that they can to be perfect and we have our auto admin in place for no explosives, but it comes down to rules are rules. If you choose to break them and you get in trouble, that is your fault and there is nobody else to blame. You can make reports and if admins aren't in the server they will go over them to see those who break the rules often and will deal with them. Just because an admin isn't in the server doesn't mean that we aren't looking at the reports. Q. Why don't you have servers that have multiple expansion maps on them? A. Because they are quite difficult to maintain unless you have people willing to be in the servers and make sure they are populated day in and day out. Please refer again to the link in the answer of the third question as this relates to that. If we have people who are going to make sure that these servers will indeed stay populated then possibly but so far we haven't been able to get that. In the past we've done B2K which a lot of people were begging for an it went nowhere. Q. There's someone cursing and using racist remarks in the server, why haven't they been banned? A. Because the reality of it is nobody will ever be happy, these are not remarks that you will see any admin using but we aren't going to police everybody and what they say. What one person might find offensive, the other person might not. So if we remove a few words then we'll need to remove all words that people find offensive. Now if the individual is spamming constantly and/or just being a troll about it you can always submit a ban request and let us know what was happening. Admins will then look over it to see what action needs to be taken. Q. Why don't you kick people who have a high ping? A. In reality high ping doesn't cause as many problems as a lot of people think. Admins have been talked to about how to handle something that is absurd but they will not kick someone with a 150 ping because people are complaining about them. We have members from all over the world and we're not going to limit what servers they play on. Someone's high ping to a server does not cause a server to lag. If the server is lagging it'll be everyone noticing it. BUT if there are only a few individuals who are complaining about lag, it's more than likely an issue with their connection to the server. The best thing to do would be do a tracert to the server, but most people don't want to believe that they might have an issue on their end or somewhere between their house and the server. And the reality is that there could be an issue that someone is seeing. There are plenty of posts about ping in the servers so feel free to do a search to look them up. Q. Why don't you just disable weapons that you can't use in the no explosive server? A. Don't you think we would have done that if it was possible? :) Q. Why can't I dispute a ban after 2 months? A. If people cared so much to play on our servers after a perma ban, they would come and dispute within the first 2 months. We feel 2 months is more than enough time to dispute a perma ban. Q. Why don't you have anything besides 64 slot servers? A. Again refer to the link in the answer to question number three. But long story short, it's not easy to keep small number servers populated as often as possible when we have as many servers as we do. Due to the fact that you could lose 15 people at a time in one game, there goes half the population of the server which could indeed empty the server. So if it's wanted we need people willing to put in the time and effort to do such and to make it so that there is always a queue for the servers. Q. Why does it seem like you guys get frustrated when people ask certain questions? A. Seriously though, it's because they are normally questions that have been answered multiple times and most of the time it appears that the question wasn't thought about in the manner of "Hey I wonder if anybody else has posted about this." Unlike Battlelog where things normally get hidden and admins don't respond, we do see pretty much 99% of everything that is posted without it getting lost because of the fact that we have admins for each particular section of the community. And those admins do make sure that we respond to topics where someone might have a question. So with that last question being answerd, please just take 10 seconds to browse the forums and search to see if your topic has been discussed before you go and make a post. If it's not too old or hasn't been answered feel free to leave your input but a lot of the same questions are coming up over and over. Ping, ping, ping, why can't I use explosives, ping, ping, can we have more servers, why can't we have these maps, why do you only have like 200 tickets on the TDM server, 64 players is a lot of people to have on a server, where are the expansion maps, why is this person using curse words and racist remarks and hasn't been banned yet. As always we do appreciate and ask for suggestions but most of the questions that we see over and over have been answered and could be answered for you by making a search on the forums. Thank you for your support of the community and as always we will continue to provide the best possible gaming experience on our servers for as many people in the world.

So I have been back playing BF3 for a few months now and have had a bunch of fun playing on the ADK servers! When I first started playing, I could crank out games all night, no worries. Then one day there was that system tray notice that "nVidia has new drivers" message. Downloaded the 73.6 MB file and updated the drivers. Things still went well playing the game, but occasionally the screen would go all weird while playing the game.

Low and behold, about a week later, another system tray message that there are new nVidia drivers. Same thing, downloaded and installed. Below is the build that I am working from. Quite a stable system (as long as the fan stays on the CPU...)!

Machine Build:

Thermaltake TR2 RX 750W Bronze W0382RU
Asus VK278Q Black 27" 1920x1080 2ms Full HD HDMI LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Webcam 300 cd/m2 10,000,000 :1 (ASCR)

This is what the screen will do, well at least what I can get screen grabs for!!!

I had a problem like that and I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them.  I restarted my computer, and things were better.  Worth a shot

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately the card is out of warranty....

Took the machine apart this afternoon and blew out about a pound of dust. Testing this evening and if same thing happens again, reload.

So Far....

The video issue has not re-occurred. Things seem to be back to normal. Have been running BF3 and D3 for the testing.

Max CPU temp: 165 degrees F over 5 strait gaming rounds.

BTW Wacko920, was coach of an APA team and we called ourselves the Animaniacs. We had Yakko, Wacko and Dot. Due to being coach, Brain was my nickname. (the now-ex-f'in-wife was Pinky  , stupid bi#*&; and she proved it!!!)

There was a windows update that messed with our gtx580 that we had to unistall to fix our problem you might look into that and see if that will fix it

One needs to educate themselves PRIOR to ever updating INVIDA drivers. (1) ALWAYS READ the release notes (2) Do a COMPLETE uninstall (3) Clean traces with CC Cleaner or better (4) If you have Windows 7, removing temp files is always another good idea type %temp% & clean all windows traces & history (5) ALWAYS do a clean install! I recommend following the steps in this thread PRIOR to making ANY changes!

& to read the release notes-

NEVER DOWNLOAD OR USE THIRD PARTY GPU DRIVERS!

Good Luck & I hope this helps you! :)

If you have questions or need  further assistance, I can help you! I have the 560ti DS in SLI in my Z58 build!

Thank you so much Gunny! It is like you were reading my mind!

After a week of gaming and having no video issues, things went south this evening. It was a GREAT week, was accepted the fine family here :P, job going well, nice weather then the crappy video issue came back again. Attached are some interesting screen caps.

Going to try the awesome advice from Gunny and see if that will help solve the issues. Have installed an nVidia GPU Gadget to alarm if over temp, trying to cover all the bases.

Desperation Update:

Well, after taking the advice from Gunny1966 and getting other video issue resolved, the problem reared its ugly head again   (BUT! the advice from Gunny1966 is SOLID and should be used by all!)

Looking deep into the hard drive, the conclusion was reached that Windows was "gooped up". The registry was huge, there was a weird partition on the disk and the startup listing was almost 2 pages long. Something got to the machine that all the security did not catch. Boo Hoo! Forensics started!

So, format C:

reload Windows....

The machine has been reloaded, updates completed, latest drivers for all hardware installed. A complete clean reload. If the problem happens again, I will replace the video card with a lower version spare.

Currently at 50% of the download and will try to get in the game tonight.

The troubleshooting continues.....

So two whole days ago I reloaded the entire system. Complete wipe of the SSHD and reload of Win 7.

Today is 4/25. the problem keeps showing up.....

So now the question to all of you...

What graphics card should I go with? Have had great results (up to now) with nVidia cards. Have had not-so-good-results with ATI Video cards.

Also, guidance on a good LGA 1155 CPU fan?

Opinions? Thoughts? Digs? Hints? Slaps? Knee jerks?

Questions? Feelings? It is a full moon, does that help?

For starters, What is your BUDGET?

When selecting GPU's / Video Cards, It's important to realize first what you motherboard, Processor Monitor is & most importantly what WILL & what will NOT cause bottlenecks therefore allowing you to have a OPITIMAL gaming experience as well as a STABLE SYSTEM! A stable system is rather difficult to achieve WITHOUT some prior knowledge. Post up your system spec's & let's get a look at the choices based SOLELY off of what your ( 1 ) Budget allows for ( 2 ) CPU capabilities ( 3 ) Motherboard Capabilities ( 4 ) Case Expansion ( 5 ) OS- Operating system Capabilities ( 6 ) Power Supply Capabilities ( 7 ) Memory Speed ect. ect.. The forementioned items ( according to some ) don't matter, NOT TRUE! They are ALL things that MUST be considered when up-grading or investingating for further expansions! Until I know EXACTLY what your specs are I will make NO RECCOMENDATIONS towards you desire to up-grade! I deem it necessary for a EDUCATED selection. I've built systems & had pro's & con's with every one of them HOWEVER all are 100% STABLE!

One thing I will share with those whom take the time to read this post is this! Once you get your system 100% loaded with ALL the things you deem neccessary to have i.e. The OS, Games, Fraps,Procon, Speed Fan, Memtest, Intel Burn Test, EVGA Precision, CPUZ, Winzip ect.ect. ( all the bells & whistles you want ) TEST IT FULLY then get ACRONIS & make a FULL IMAGE of your ENTIRE os! THIS SAVES YOU TIME in the long run! As you progress the STABILITY consistantly make further images & ALWAYS keep two or three ( if you have enough space ) for further EXPANSION! This will be a learning curve for some but others whom know what they are doing will tell you this becomes an benefit in overall system management as well as performance & improve your knowledge base at the same time! Make a FULL copy to a link using CPUZ & post it & we will move further into your selection process!

GIVE FULL DETAILS!

So despite all the good information people have given you there was one thing missed. You, very much like myself. bought a 1st Gen GTX 560 TI, not the best card ever made but still pretty good. There was a non published bug issue with the chipset on these cards, whether it was MSI or EVGA, about 1/4 of all 1st gen cards suffered from this problem.

The good people at EVGA, despite the fact i didn't register my card on their site and waited a year 1/2 after the warranty replaced my card at no charge. They knew about the issue and were reluctant to tell the public about it to avoid a recall. If MSI won't replace the card you're going to have to get a new one and i would encourage you to purchase an EVGA card. They have the best customer service of any manufacturer and they replace faulty products.

For price vs performance i would go with the following http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130826

he already gave you everything but his budget...........???? look at the first post

Targetboy you have a good enough system that you can basically run any graphics card you want.  a little overclocking for a high end card would push the bottleneck back onto the gpu which will always be the bottleneck on a high end system.  some will disagree with that statement that you should never have a bottleneck but something always has to be slower right?

so if you want to max out the game at 1080p and want some solid fps now and for the future go with a 7950/7970.  that is if the budget allows you too. also try to get a sapphire as they are AMDs main buyer and get the best chips.

Thanks Gunny, F3lix and cbrunnem!!!!

The GTX 560 Ti is a first generation card. Will check with MSI to see what they can do! Thanks for that very handy piece of information!

My friend replaced his video cards last week and I am going to borrow his old cards to do some testing. If the trouble comes back, I will try a spare  motherboard I have (back from repair). If the problem comes back after that, I am moving off the ancient burial ground I must be on!

I am also going to get the Antec KUHLER H2O 920 Liquid Cooling System for the CPU. Am running the stock Intel fan.

For the budget, between $250 and $350 for the video card.

This is the MOST frustrating thing about this.....each time I set out to duplicate the problem, I can play 5 or 6 rounds of BF3 and NO problems....

Each time I get in the game to play a round or two, the video screws up on the second round!

Have let the machine cool and restart, done warm restarts and STILL no consistency!

Anyone know a good medium to come and rid me of these evil PC ghosts? Perform a ritual to abscond the land of the bad  juju?

May 11 update.

Changed the port that the monitor was plugged into on the video card. Changed it on 4/29 and have yet to have the same video problem occur. Card out of warranty so I am going to go ahead and plan for a new card. Also have been running AIDA64 Extreme Edition to monitor system temperatures.

Your GPU is staying fairly cool for BF3, you just need to work on getting that CPU temp down. I would get one of the Corsair liquid all in one solutions. They mostly come under $100 and they cool much better than fan cooling.
