Recommended Posts

Im sure many of you since we are a gaming community many of use build our own systems and take pride in our builds. After seeing War put up his picutres of his new hardware I figured it would be fun to see what everyone else has. Any way heres my pictures:

BTW these were taken on my phone so they arent the greatest quality but still decent.

I've already posted enough pics of the inside of my rig, so I thought I'd follow reaper's example and post a little pic of where I get my game on.

Enjoy!

Better then before??? I don't see the wooden chair... Maybe things happen for a reason??? Damn we old........ Anyways, very zen style War... looks very relaxing.
Oh, you'd better believe I'm still rocking a wooden chair! I moved it out of the way earlier, but now it's back baby! Seriously, I really like this setup and it is a relaxing place to kill (virtual) people.

Really nice war! I dig the house as well nicely decorated.

Im not a big fan of the elevated monitor, but thats just me, Im trying to get a good price out of my LG in the middle because it does NOT have a monitor mount...what kind of BS is that? anyway i would buy a 3 arm monitor mount and get another samsung to match the setup for gaming but unfortunately i cant. O well.

Grim,

Then you definitely would not have been happy with my monitor setup just a few days ago. It was sitting an additional 4" higher, on top of a dictionary, because the monitor was too wide to fit between the shelf's rails. Well, I modified the shelf's rails (meaning I cut the damn things off) and now I like it much better. When I'm seated, the middle of the monitor is barely below my sight line, which works pretty good for me. Before I modified the shelf, I felt like I was looking up at the monitor, which was a total pain in the @55, especially after a while of game play.

On another note, I just ordered a Silverstone Raven RV02b-EW case. From the reviews I've read, it's pretty awesome, especially when it comes to cooling. I want to put it where my printer currently is, since the case's window is on the left side (how weird is that?). It shouldn't be too hard to relocate the printer... I've got a couple of options there, but I think getting my CPU off the floor will help immensely with dust. If I can't move it, no biggie... I'll just have to vacuum its filters more often.

Here's a pic of the case. I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Dude that is an awesome case! Silverstone right? I was gonna get taht case but then realized that my gtx 275 would barley fit and didnt. Now GPUs are getting some what more compact. At least my gtx 470 is smaller.

you need some better gear brotha! i cant even see what kind of vid card it is, but it doesnt have self cooling (or maybe it does...but it's so tiny i cant see!), and it's not competing for space in the case, so im gonna assume its not the gtx 490 lol. your mobo looks tiny too. not saying tiny means shit, but usually tiny means its older, a lot of the newer stuff makes even a full tower cramped

you should move your hard drives at the bottom too, its restricting air flow from the fan right in front of it.

your setup looks a lot cleaner than mine. but if i had a tv there, i wouldnt get any work done...evar lol

Grim,
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. That Sabretooth is one serious looking mobo! I'll bet it has Asus's superior UEFI as well. That is some sharp looking memory as well! I can only hope that, as time goes by, MSI will upgrade their UEFI so that it is in the same league as Asus'.

As for my case, yep, it's a Silverstone. I got an email saying it shipped today and that it will arrive Monday. All I will need then is about 3 hours to populate it and do the cable management needed to get it looking sharp, then I will be all set. I'm also still hoping to put it on my desktop and get it off of the floor. I also think that using an external DVD burner will be nice as I will be able to maintain the nice lines that the front of the case has.

On another note, I've been VERY happy with the Core i5 2500K. I've been playing Crysis 2 lately, and at my current system settings and using Crysis 2's next-best graphics settings the game looks and plays awesome. Framerates are as smooth as glass no matter what I'm looking at. From what I've read, Crysis 2 benefits from quad core CPUs and the difference in performance between it and the Core i7 2600K at stock clocks were due mostly to the 2600K's slightly faster clock speed. I've been running my 2500K at 4.5GHz for about a week now and have yet to experience a single glitch over hours of gameplay. Getting the Core i5 2500K was definitely a good call.

Dayum! That's a nice rig there Gozer! Looks like you have lots of room in your case and great airflow. I didn't realize until recently that lots of gamers use two monitors. I'm glad it started doing so. It is nice to be able to monitor a chat client, Steam friends list, or system performance while gaming.

Haha, don't jump to conclusions or anything. Actually, the case is huge so that's probably why you say the board's a micro -- it's a full ATX board. And tiny doesn't mean older, I'm just not going to pay $700+ for a gpu when I can get some "older" ones that overclock well for less than 1/3 that price. I'm too lazy to move the hdd's as I'd have to reroute a lot of cables. If the cpu/gpu start running hot I just take the side panel off the case.

My rig:
core i7 2600
Ati Radeon HD 6850
8gb G.SKILL DDR3 1333
Creative Fatality Pro
Biostar TP67B+
1x Velociraptor
3 or 4 750GB/1TB storage drives

Well for the money I was gonna get the MSI 65 version of your motherboard but then my dad bought my memory for me for my bday and then I had much more to throw on a board. And your right about the i7, i think almost everyone saw the post i made about the i5 vs i7 in gaming and most applications for the avg user that is not encoding video the i5 is neck and neck and sometimes even faster. And people have been hitting 5.0+ghz on that cpu! Im definaltley going for a high OC. A friend of mine got the Asus Rampage or something motherboard and the qx9650 not to long ago ( i told him to wait but he blew 700 on the cpu and mobo. and another 300 on memory :| ) and the Asus board has so many adjustment for voltages its not funny. He has to use equations to figure out his voltage settings but got that qx9650 to stable 4.5 ghz on air for a prime 95 and futuremark 3d test.

Also the demo for Crysis 2 ran amazingly smooth! But im sure the game is a lot more intense. But the biggest thing for me will be smoother gameplay over all in COD and all other games. Cant wait!

O and I cant wait to get pics of the sabertooth up!

thats the worst thing you can do, never do that. the point of having the case closed is so that air circulates, if you take off a panel, then the fans lose their effectiveness, and the air just sits there. that will overheat things even faster believe it or not. you need the case closed with good circulation to move out hot air. remember, exhaust fans are more important than intake fans

your card is a newer gen card. overclocking can get dangerous unless you do it exactly right, and even then, it may not outperform the newer cards that are out. my card only cost 400 and its a dual gpu. the gtx490 is a single gpu, but it outperforms any ati card, for 500. granted, getting dual gtx490s would get expensive fast, but you don't need it with a card like that. either way though, my card at current price, is about the same as yours, and probably runs the same as yours without the risks of overclocking, so you can't be saving too much. just something to think about

Here's my PC right now.

Specs:

I5 2500k @ 4.6 GHz
Asus P8P67 LE
4GB Gskill RipjawsX 1600 DDR3
Sapphire HD 6870
320 GB Caviar blue

This is the rig I recently built (2 weeks ago) to play BF3 on ultra settings. The processor is overclocked to 4.6 Ghz and air cooled by CM Hyper 212+. Was supposed to get Caviar Black, but because of the floods in Thailand prices of hard drives almost doubled. I'm thinking of upgrading the ram to 8 GB (although I'm having problems with the Hyper 212+ ram Clearance) and buying a Caviar black soon.

Bandit, what kind of temperature display is that? And can it control fan speed? I'm looking for a fan speed monitor/controller to put in the front panel of my next build but I'm having trouble deciding on which one.
