Private Groups For Raids - Does anybody use them?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone use the Private Group function for raids, mainly the legendary raids right now?   There's been 2 times that I've seen where there will be groups of random people (normally on the same team after they scream out asking for people) that will go and create a private raid.  One of those times was pretty funny as I guessed a code, and got in.  They were all Valor, with me being Instinct. Their reactions were priceless and one person said "Let's back out and start over" but the rest basically said "no, we don't want to wait again". So it can be fun guessing the codes.

And my thought is for the smaller raids, whatever. . . but for the legendary I think it could get pretty frustrating over time especially because if you have a group of 15 people on the same team, would 3 or any of the other teams hurt you?

This was a big discussion from some friends, and they talked to others who said that it's rare and that most people will raid with whoever no matter what team.  But what are your thoughts?

My experience so far has been that the team lines get blurred and don't matter.  This is probably due to the high player count needed to ensure success in the raid.  The only time I've seen private groups used is if there are 2 groups worth of people organizing for a raid to spread everyone out evenly.  In that regard, they work great to keep the random matchmaking in check.
