Kong Skull Island Review.

Recommended Posts

As the title says this is a kong skull island movie review i'll break this down into overall parts of everything i like about the movie and try to make it as in depth as i can about what i liked and didn't like. TL;DR is Kong is a great monster movie and worth seeing with the WB launch of their Monsters universe with kong at the forefront it's a 9/10

So Kong Skull island looks like another monster reboot of your favorite giant monster smashing humans and other monsters well think again, Kong Skull island is more of a rebirth and modernization of everyone's favorite giant gorilla King Kong the movie is also set in the later 1960s/early 1970s? and Skull island is now located off Vietnam. The entire movie sets the pace right from the start from humans trying to survive on the inhospitable island while trying to fight off the creatures other than kong the entire time they're there looking for their escape it's a perfect blend of Horror and Action and Monster goodness in one with some scary moments but never deviating from the Action and still keeps the story of Kong and the girl there as well without it being over pressed or sappy or boring and to make this talking part short and not spoiling anything about the movie Kong is definitely a movie that delivers on it's points and stays true enough to the original so fans of both the classic and fans of the new can enjoy taking many lessons from the new godzilla film and improving of them over all i'd give the movie a 9/10

Cinematography:The Cinematography of Kong Skull island is beautiful and perfect with a vibrant colorful world yet still filled with dark and and huge contrasts in some parts of the movie playing off each other perfectly from swampy sunny Vietnam landscape to Tribal village to Dark Forest and Caves. It Captures the untapped beauty of skull island but still making it look sinister and inviting like Pandora's box

Music and Sound:So for music the entire soundtrack is pretty much anything you have heard on a video game set in vietnam CCR,Rolling Stones, the Doors etc the list goes on with them flying in on hueys and other Vietnam era craft and using weaponry the use of 1960s/early 1970s rock plays a huge part in this film while actual orchestra music used for fighting scenes and more tense moments blends perfectly in.As for the actual sound effects themselves everything sounds authentic and that they paid attention to detail when doing this even the sounds a 3 story tall gorilla makes sounds realistic in the way it breathes, making it have a shortness of breathe after running or fighting in the film and the weapons and vehicles and everything else sound just like how you would imagine them no over the top sound effects here.

Acting:With  Tom Hiddleston,Samuel L. Jackson,John Goodman and Brie Larson in this film it goes without saying that the acting here by the human counterparts to Kong is phenomenal with Tom Hiddleston portraying the Noble but broken hero type perfectly in this film as James Conrad a man who ends up questioning his morals on the island and Contrast very well to Samuel L. Jacksons Character who is Preston Packard a United States Army Lieutenant Colonel and leader of the Sky Devils helicopter squadron, hired to chopper the group of explorers on the expedition.Having a very Captain Ahab-esq quest against kong as the movie goes on and capturing the beast or killing it becomes his obsession.Where as John Goodman play William Randa who is a Secret organization official who organizes this entire expedition to Skull island to find a monster of legend and plays the perfect man with a secret character through the entire movie right until the end and post credits scene.Brie Larson plays Mason Weaver a feisty and altruistic photojournalist and peace activist. Larson stated that her character has her "own sort of motive" coming to the expedition to try and find something and here and Conrad work well together and understand and respect Kong through the entire film.

tried to keep it as spoiler free as possible and new to writing reviews so sorry if it's kinda long just wanted to mess around with this format.
