BF1 Gameplay First Impressions?

I watched as much as I could and what I saw I liked. There are many small details that we need info on like gadgets, teamwork, server browser, spawning, net code, and all the other little mechanics that help make or break a game. But, when I look purely at the game play, I thought it looked very fun and what I was hoping for. The game play showed me that the fears of trench warfare and boring weaponry stifling the BF experience proved to be false. I thought it looked, dynamic, beautiful, great destruction, map looked cool, and the weapons looked fun to use. I am excited.

Hit detection was a bit off from what I saw on some weapons. Find out for sure in beta (see below).

Server browser has been confirmed. Not renting servers specifically (community run), and I will assume nothing yet.

 

Weapons definitely LOOKED liked they had a lot of recoil for the smgs and snipper bolt looked like a nice balance with single bullet reload to help balance it out some. Grenades look to be a big part, via anti vehicle and personal types. The use of a vehicle class could be awesome I think.

tanks are in a weird spot, they may be overpowered, it's hard to say. since everyone had the AT rocket gun unlocked for the last day, it was just constant shelling. and since people have discovered how good the suppressor LMG (not suppressed, just its intended use) is, there are people actually resupplying. snipers are rampant because it's satisfying to use, and the map is extremely open. assault weapons have an effective range of what feels like 5 feet when using them. and medics rarely revive because the indicator is so bad and requires you to press Q for it to appear. aside from the suppressor LMG, the others are sub-par, assault excels at close range, sniper at long, medic everywhere in between. many of the LMGs are crap unless using the bipod on them, which is assuming the variant you have equipped even has the bipod. the horses are also extremely derpy right now.

all in all, i enjoyed the hell out of it, i hit rank 64 with about 45 hours logged, but there's stuff that needs work

I loved it so far some things will need a nerf/buff 

Pro's 

  • Recoil on guns is nice easy to control 
  • Vehicles handle very well at some points
  • Overall gameplay is very well made and stuck to ww1 feautres 

 

Con's

  • Client side Storms :(
  • heavy tanks are to strong from my point of view
  • Flamethrower OP

 

 

But overall i enjoed the beta playing with everyone again that i played BF3/BF4 with hope to see everyone on the battlefield :)

The Open Beta was fun.

With that being said i understand that many feel that Tanks are Over Powered, well that's because they should be.

It was a time filled with trench warfare, how would they advance the lines? Through tanks of course.

They are meant to be scary and Over Powered. BF1 does a great job capturing that aspect, unlike BF4.

Taking out a tank in BF1 was much more satisfying than any other Battlefield game i have played.

Definitely looking forward to playing the game on release.

Very true, I personally cheer whenever I solo kill a tank as an assault class. And even though tanks are very powerful I prefer to have my boots on the ground and maneuver the trenches.

if your vehicle was disabled it wouldn't auto repair, you had to have a repair guy or get out yourself to repair making yourself vulnerable to infantry.

The repair from inside will stop when you are hit by anything. Being in an active firefight makes it very dangerous to self repair. I found myself having to flee the battle, if I could, to self repair, which in a lot of cases I could not move anyway and was destroyed.

I guess what I am saying is I think the self repair is balanced. I like the fact that the support class does the external vehicle repair.
