IMO it's a no-brainer - IF you have even the slightest smidgen of interest in this type of game in the first place, and a halfway decent PC to run it ... why hesitate?!

What you're getting right now for even the lowest-end buy-in, is early access to a game that absolutely exceeds the plans and aspirations of any other PC game on the market right now. BUT, it's early access. It's not all 'there' yet, so you have to understand you're not 'buying a product', so much as 'supporting the process'.

But, you're in luck - you've stumbled into this at a good time. What IS there and playable right now is incredibly engaging and entirely enticing for what's to come. It's proof enough that this game IS coming together, and WILL eventually 'get there'. In fact, the entire development process seems to be speeding up and gaining real, tangible momentum - patches are no longer months apart, but lately, have seen daily iterations. What's included in the base pledge RIGHT NOW will eventually be split apart into separate purchases, so if you're interested and capable, just take the plunge now - you're probably not going to regret it.

The only real 'gotcha' is going to be the eventual desire to upgrade your rig to run everything at 'future max settings' :P

@[member='TemptingFate'] Please don't hesitate to hang out in Teamspeak, also you can stop by our discord: http://www.adkgamers.com/topic/137538-new-year/ which will have a more constant flow of people in it that the TS.

My vote is you get the cheapest package now and try it out. To be clear, anything you pay beyond that package is purely for financially supporting the project. The basic package gets you full access to the game.

@[member='HoboStab'] VR has been a goal for a few years. The only difference is now we are closer to having it which is exciting. I don't know if I will ever pick up VR, but it is just another way SC is pushing the tech boundaries a bit which is one of the reasons I backed.

If you want the longest "fun" time wait for release. If you are interested in helping test and see everything early with the possibility of being burnt out, invest the $45 and play.

I think it's still $45 for starter?

depends on how often you plan on playing the game. we are still out a ways till release. The way i justified spending money is simple to me, its an investment into a game that ive always wanted, space travel, dog fights, piracy, and whatever else you can imagine. i very rarely play the game, but when i do ive always enjoyed it.

It is a personal choice that you need to do research on and justify to your self if its worth spending $45 on, because once you get in it if you like it, you're gonna wanna spend more money.

If you buy a package now you will get Star Citizen, but not Squadron 42 - it's now an add on - $15, if I remember correctly

It doesn't say this anywhere but I bought a AMD r7 370 and it came with a package for this game free. I ended up not liking the graphics card and returned it for an nvidia one, but if you like AMD graphics star citizens comes free with them and also dirt rally as well. My idea would be just buy an AMD card and get the game free and return the card, this wasn't my intentions. I dont recommend doing it that way either, but who knows maybe you can enjoy a new graphics card! Edited by Scottsm16
