How did you spend Easter weekend? Most folks spent the time hunting for eggs, prepping a feast or -- if they're not the Easter type -- slaying Droids and Dark Siders in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Not k|ngp|n (henceforth referred to as "Kingpin"), an overclocker known for tinkering with EVGA graphics cards. While you and I were busy getting face time in with grandma, Kingpin was busy pushing a GTX 680 right up against the 2GHz barrier.[/background]

Videocardz pointed us towards the forum thread highlighting the attempt. Kingpin used an Intel Sandy Bridge-E Core i7-3930k CPU overclocked to 5605MHz, an EVGA GTX 680 (surprise!), 16GB of RAM and liquid nitrogen cooling in his attempt. Alas, Kingpin wasn't quite able to crack 2GHz even with those lofty tools, but he came really, really close, hitting a 1958MHz core clock speed and a mem clock of 3734MHz. None too shabby! The setup hit a whopping P15731 score in 3DMark 11.[/background]

Well thats pretty cool. I wonder if they realease a gtx 690 that could possibly hit 2ghz.

That would be an extremely dangerous overclock. Two GPUs with such little cooling at that speed destroy the card, not to mention the overvolting needed to achieve and maintain the overclock. There were a few people who tried to overclock and overvolt the 590, it usually ended in a fire or a dead card. And no, I'm not exaggerating.
with a really spendy high end liquid cooling this could probably be achieved pretty easy.

I have some idea of what this means, but not enough to make an intelligent response.

So I'll just go with: I want one. :(

Haha, all it is, is a video card working SUPER FAST..imagine having a ferarri for instance, and you decide, "Y U NO POWER" so you twin turbo it to make it even faster...orrrr.....you have a man who weight lifts, he's average and he decides "100lb weight, y u no lift multiple times!!" so he takes steriods to beef up and become a meat head.....orrr, imagine barbie having a credit card and she decides "Y U NO LIMIT" so she makes her credit card from a limit to a no limit credit card.
