If you all haven't heard the news, we have some bittersweet news to share with you about the Battlefield franchise. EA recently announced that the online services for Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 1, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be retiring on December 8, 2023. This means that after this date, you will no longer be able to play these games online.
These games have a special place in the hearts of many members of our gaming community especially as many of us played together on these games back in the day. (Insert old person joke here)
Before the servers are shut down, Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield: Bad Company 1 & 2 will be removed from digital storefronts starting on April 28, 2023. This means that you will no longer be able to purchase these games digitally after this date. However, if you already own these games, single-player content and features will still be available to play. Plus, EA has promised to provide resources and support for players who want to continue playing these games after the server shutdown.
If you decided to play these games before they shut down, we'd love to see some videos and screenshots of your game play so make sure to post them for everyone to see and let's celebrate the great memories we've had with these titles.
EA says they're committed to the Battlefield franchise and is working on new games and content for players to enjoy but we all know how that has worked out so far. 🙃
Thank you for being a part of our gaming community and for all of our wonderful members who found us through the Battlefield franchise.
