General Conduct in Channels
Respect those who are in the Channel and the fact that this is an ADK Teamspeak Server. Sometimes certain individuals may take offense to various topics or terms, and after being in the ADK Teamspeak for awhile, try to familiarize yourself with these people so you do not later offend them.
If you happen to offend them, apologize even if you think you believe what you said was not offensive the last thing you want to do is start a flame war over a trivial matter that will ruin your Teamspeak experience as well as everyone who may be in the channel with you.
We are all here to relax and have a fun time with each other while escaping the drama real life has; the last thing you want to do is to break that drama-free environment. Go ahead, vent at players in game if it helps you relax, just mind the players that are in your channel. They might not like to hear you narrate your entire gameplay-actions and will quickly get frustrated with you.
Racism, Offensive Terms, and Vulgarity
These items can often offend any one of any background or culture; however, our Founder believes in an free-speech (R rated) conduct. You guys are here to express yourselves and relax, if using some of these terms is how you do it then so be it.
However, constantly cursing or saying racist terms in an open channel full of people is the quickest way to lose respect. People may not hate you or dislike you, but you will quickly grow a reputation for yourself that will drive people away from you if you join the channel. Again be mindful of the people in your channel, if you offended someone, APOLOGIZE, we are a mature gaming community, lets be civil and act like one.
The last thing I want to do during my own small tidbits of free time when I am not being a Community Manager, is to have to go into your channel and be the Father for people that are much older than me but cannot settle their own issues. So please everyone, act mature.
Warning: Certain Gaming Communities inside ADK may be more or less strict than others when it comes to the previously mentioned topics. Be conscious of them!
Example: What may be *laughable* in Battlefield may be extremely offensive in PlanetSide 2. Thus you were warned.
Coming from another Gaming Community Area
Often times, a person may have joined for game XXXXX and are used to interacting with the players and people there, but they grow bored and decide to try out game YYYYYY and a lot of times Admins and Officers do this as well....
I am going to warn you, you may be of a higher rank in your own Gaming Community, but remember, you are no longer in that area.
Example: If you are a Battlefield Admin/Adviser you are nothing but a Member in DayZ.
Your rank in your own area does not give you any entitlement in the "new" game you are playing. You can and will be punished for infractions in other Gaming Community sections if you disturb the peace.
Gender in ADK Teamspeak or in General
Honestly, this should already be covered under the Vulgarity area but I will stress it more here. Be respectful of those in channel, if you are saying something that offends a certain individual, apologize, and shut your mouth.
I really do not want to say we should be more respectful of females, putting them on a level above us because I do not believe in separation of female, male, homosexual, heterosexual, black, white...I only believe in one...human. Its who we are, its what we do that defines us not what we are.
That being said, treat them with respect as you do anyone. They don't get special treatment, but remember, you have more fingers on your hand than we have females in ADK, lets not reduce it further guys.
Sexual harassment or discrimination whether its from a male to female or female to male will NOT be tolerated. Unless you and said individual are fully aware and are both comfortable with joking about it. If you are uncomfortable with someone addressing you in a sexual manner, speak up, let them know.
If you do not tell them to stop, do not come crying to me. We are a mature gaming community, as previously stated, sort our problems yourselves, if it fails, turn to higher ups for assistance. Just do not be offended if they do not lift you up and put you on a pedestal during the talk. I am not coming to save you as a White Knight I am there to stop the immaturity on all fronts and all parties involved.
If your own talks with the offender do not fix the situation, please seek the proper channels of acquiring help
For example, if you are in a dedicated game section this is how you should proceed to get help:
Game Adviser ---> Game Admin ---> Game Manager ---> Teamspeak Admin ---> Veteran Admin ---> Lead Veteran Admin ---> Community Manager ---> Founder.
If you do NOT go through the proper chain of command, do not be surprised if an when you jump straight ot asking a Veteran Admin+++ for help and they send you away.
Higher tier leadership is stretched thin as it is responding to everything that may or may not go wrong in their section while providing directional assistance and support, having them micromanage EVERY little issue that happens in Teamspeak will only frustrate them when there are others who were promoted for such a reason.
This is just the beginning, I will add more to this guide as I have more time to reflect on what is needed.
